Ok, so I am currently not happy with my phone and contract. I don't mind keeping it at all (1 year left). But I want a new contract and I want to keep my same number.

So, does anyone know if its possible.

My current contract runs with new number.
My existing number gets ported to a business call or something (maybe with vodacom, maybe another operator).

I want to do the exact same thing. Have 2 months before my contract ends, but my phone is beyond screwed. Should have taken insurance. Sigh.

Why don't you guys just pay your contracts up and then take out another using the same number?

Or am I misunderstanding here?

Also, if you have 2 months left then you're already eligible for an upgrade...

I want to keep the current contract and I want a different contract with the current number, so the existing contract would need a new number. I also don't want to pay for the contract and not get any value back.

Why not just upgrade the current contract to meet your requirements? Or do you want a new phone?

Yeh, need a new phone.

A bit (tons) of googling has shown this option:

1) Open new contract and request number migration
2) Do not cancel your current contract
3) Once number has been migrated cancel the contract

So it is possible to put your contract into some deep, dark void with no number.

3) Get new number on existing contract << That's my desired step 3
