Hi,

I have a contract soon to go into the "upgrade" period. What I wanted to know is if I can downgrade to a prepaid sim during this time.

Will the contract run till the end of the 24 months?

will there be any fees payable?

Regards

Phone 0821958 and ask for a quote. Yes, there will be a fee payable. The remainder of months in your contract x the subscriptions - 30% (Not sure if the discount have changed). Remember, your upgrade date is 3 months before your upgrade date.

I'm also trying to cancel my postpaid and move to prepaid. I can't even get through on 082 1958 and the online login doesn't work - "technical difficulties".

Any suggestions on what to do now?

I finally got through on 0821958 and am told that they cannot assist me as I am on their new 3D billing system. What do I do now? Please help!!!

They should help you. They should have access to the new system. If you can, visit the Vodacom Shop in Eastgate. Tell them they must phone trade partner while you wait and get the quote for you.

Thanks Ockie. I was at the Vodacom Shop in Eastgate earlier today too. They were dialling 0821958 to help but even they couldn't get through.

No ..... they must phone Trade Partner. I did this for another peep on mybb last week and got the quote done in 5 minutes. Just make sure you look at the quote and confirm the numbers, cause the quote they sent seemed to have been calculated wrong. The number of months left times the sub amount did not match. It is system generated so not sure if it was a glitch in the new system. But tell them they must phone Trade Parter .... NOT 0821958 (retentions)

That was me. Still waiting for a response and amended figures. They seem to have forgotten about me with all the public holidays and all.

You sent them an email on the 23rd of March.

Just some feedback. I forgot I also sent a mail yesterday via their website enquiries and surprisingly, I received this response.

"Thank you for your email.

I have tried to contact you on 082XXXXXXX but the call was routed to voice mail.

I have loaded a cancellation for the 30 April and the number will be converted to prepaid.

Please recharge within 48 hours after the conversion in order to keep the number active on prepaid.

Kindly ensure that you use up all your allocation before the 30 of April as it wont be carried over to pay as you go.

That's bull, any allocation you have not used should be carried over. Sure I read that had been made a law for telecoms industry as you've already paid for it.
I recently cut over to prepaid on Telkom and all my previously allocated airtime carried over.

I let my contact run the compete 24 months and converted to prepaid. Best decision for me cost wise. I like having granular control over what i pay for and what I consume.

Rocked my S2 till one day I accidentally slammed it between my car door and the door frame. Since then been using a trusty S3 loaded with the latest stable CM. I honestly have no need to upgrade. Just a waste IMO. Of course if the latest and greatest is your thing then maybe a contract is better.

I am however considering to take out a uchoose sim only contract as I would pay less Rand per month for the same amount of airtime.

Note that i buy airtime and in turn buy a data bundle as needed. I also am not making calls left right and center so my airtime requirements are generally about R200 a month.
I might go for the uchoose sim only contract for R200 airtime for R130 per month.
