Hi guys

I wanna get myself a contract. first i wanted the N73 but people say the joystick works out quickly.
next in line is the N81, but that phone is only on business call.
So can anyone tell me what is business call, how does it work and whats the advantages and disadvantages.

oh and no disresect but dont recommend another brand if your gonna, i only want nokia. at the moment those two nokias are the only ones that interest me

Typically the price of the packages differ and the number and when you can use free minutes differ. Also the vodacom to telkom rates differ quite a bit.

But, Go to the vodacom website, www.vodacom.co.za

There is a menu option called packages, under that menu an option you can select is called "Compare Packages", here you will be able to compare and see the difference between business call and other packages.

PS, check out what MTN has on their Procall Packages (an equivalent of a vodacom business package), usually they offer better phones for free then vodacom does.

seems like im gonna have to let the N81 go and stick with the N73.
business looks like crap, just get a cooler phone, with weekend everyday you atleast get a free 120 minutes every month

Cool. Although i am sure there must be better nokias then the N73 for free on weekender?

IMO, Vodacom screws u with their bucket carryover system for included/free minutes.
http://www.vodacom.co.za/packages/using_free_minutes.jsp

The packages offer subscribers a predetermined amount of inclusive minutes that can be used at the beginning of the month or the date of subscription. Subscribers will only be able to use the bundled minutes within 30 days or when the bundled minutes have been depleted.

Any unused minutes will remain in separate monthly "buckets" for up to five consecutive months. These minutes will be used in order from the oldest to the newest "bucket". Any minutes left in the oldest "bucket" will be forfeited on the 1st day of the 6th month, as illustrated opposite.

Free minutes can be used for national and data calls as well as calls to voicemail and mobile faxes. Calls excluded from the free minutes include data calls to numbers starting with 082 23, 082 24 and 082 28; directory enquiries: 110/1023; international calls and premium rated numbers such as competition lines.

i dunno... theres just two phones that interest me at the moment
and the N81 looks lie the stronger compeditor. think i'll go with the business call in anycase

If you're planning on making calls etc, it may be an idea to investigate the Top Up contracts. They offer very low call rates, and the higher plans give you better phones.

N81

You can get the N81 free on Top Up 315
R430 per month on the Talk 240 package at Cellucity. 7 Feb to 6 April brochure.

Dunno what the N81 Gaming Edition is, but it goes for R159 per month on the MyCall 100 with a R299 pay in. Sim and connection fee R209. This is in the Yello Trader Feb-March edition.

Why such a price difference?

damn why does voda wanna be so expensive...
though my dad went to the vodashop yesterday and he said i can get the N81 for R780 on weekend everyday.... i wonder...

Top up contracts seem more worth it for me. Even if you have to pay in more for the phone you want. Weekender gives you free OFF PEAK minutes. Top up allows you to use the "credit" on anything, any time. So you can sms, use data services, etc. Call rates are cheaper too. Plus, you have the convenience of the same bill at the end of each month, so no nasty suprises

yeah but what am i gonna do with that amount of airtime? R315's worth of air?
plus if you dont use it by the end of the month it probably gets killed...

It carries over for 5 or 6 months. Thereafter it starts falling away, oldest month's first. Top Up 135 gives you R135 airtime per month. If you used it ONLY for off-peak calls- calculate how many minutes you'd get (you'll be pleasantly suprised). Cost per month is the same as Weekender, but with Weekender, any out-of-bundle calls or sms's will be billed for! Top up at least provides for some usage (any time)

ok yuor getting some good points across here....though it doesnt look like top up have good phones..... argh, i'll rather buy a N81 or N73 and pay montly, the way things sound now

I had a look at Altech Autopage's brochure last night.

They offer deals from all network providers.

So on the same page IIRC, for the N82, Vodacom offers it for R462 pm
on Talk240, MTN offers it for R167 pm on MyCall100, and Cell C offers it for R240~ on anytime 100min package.

Just illustrates how do u don't always get what u pay for, huh?

Out of curiosity, why r u so dead set against a contract with MTN?

Btw, if one has Discovery credit card and is on Vitality programme, u can get up to 15% off the bill with Altech Autopage.

EDIT1: I think there might have been a small pay in of a couple hundred on the MTN offer.

Yeah i know this thread is old already.
but i made a move this weekend... finally worked 3 months, so i got my lackluster bank statement. not living up to the requirement, but the guy said he can make it work, i do pay over the required amount now but im not waitin another three months. so i made the statement, had my ID... and off i go... only to find out they dont have anymore stock!:(
he phone another branch, they dont have either and that guy told him that he also honed around the whole day, no one has:(
but he said maybe they get stock next month. i asked him to please give me a cal as soon as he gets it.
