At Vodacom nothing is 4u ... it is all 4them! :D

Me had to make a call so me gave up waiting.
Me is going in again ... this time i'm going to choose different options.
0 - 2 [simswap ... lollies]
Wow ...
Instant response.
Told him that da number for swap does not work.
He tells me - nooit bru - you cannot actually switch from a 4U to a Pay as you go ... don't worry about the adverts and the info on the website .. that's all just lies.
So I ask him to put me through to cancellations department which he duly does.

Cancellation Dept:
What's my cell phone number [cos they don't have caller id .. as if]. Give it to him.
There I try to find out if I can cancel this 4U rubbish by specifying a certain date for cancellation. He says like sure bru.
Then I ask him ... well ... how far in the future can I set the date ... like is the end of August okay.
He says he cannot tell me until I've verified my identity by giving him my ID Number.
So I give him my ID Number and he tells me - sure you can set that date as the cancellation date ... easy peasy.
Then he fill sin all the stuff and says it's done and ALL I HAVE TO DO IS FAX THROUGH A LETTER OF CANCELLATION AND A COPY OF MY ID BOOK.
Now why the frusk didn't they just say that in the first place ?
To cancel : Fax through a letter of cancellation + copy of id book to 011 546 8006.

Blerry retarded useless company.
Oh .. I know they're probably all like that.
It's soooo stupid and it's always a beeg finger to me the customer.

P.S. Cuedoes on the quick response on cancellations and card-swap divisions :p.

Thanx for the advice, I phoned 111 instead of 082-111 and pressed # for the callback service and they phoned me back in less than 5 mins.Asked me for my ID no. and got my caller ID working in about an hour.

Well

All three the networks are blady useless, (oh telkom doesn't count because they win hands down) at the moment i think VC offers the worst service (well i suppose telkom has something to do with that), MTN's holding times are better then VC's now. WOW. never though that would happen!. And as for the limits to the call centers on VC that helps when you get cute off as soon as someones answers your call. Because by the time you reach someone on the other side, that is your last call for the month. Maybe VC are doing it on purpose to try and stop congestion on the call centers? And V3G i fell sorry that you have to be associated with Vodacom.

Well we will all just have to wait and see who is 'South Africa's leading cellular network' once MNP is in action. I gotta a feeling it will be Virgin Mobile. (just my opion)

Why?

As you said all these companies battle with call-desk support, but I know the amount of effort Vodacom is putting into getting it better and it shows in the way Vodacom wins the call-desk surveys on this forum with large margins. Have a look at the polls page on the main myADSL page.

That's not to say it should not be better, it certainly can improve, the hold times discussed in this thread shows that. Thus the new call center that just opened up and is busy revving up.

Creed started this thread with a ligit issue, but after he got the right info on how to use the system, he got sorted in 5 minutes.

This, for me, is the real challenge, how to get the info to you guys so you can use the most efficient way to interact with Vodacom. Holding on for ever is not cool in anyones book.

No. And in that regard, the # function is excellent. I'm usually called back in less than two minutes. Unfortunately I still seem to be having to get called back by 155 far too often, but that is a different story.

Helpdesk = buffer

It is simple maths ....... employ semi-literate people to sit at your help desk and answer calls to ensure that you don't waste they time of the people that might actually know what they are doing.

IVR is another way to frustrate and confuse your clients, after that you unsult them by playing them Pet Shop Boys - I don't know what what you want but I can't give it anymore ( Yes, that is the title .... I find it sarcastic)

Simple in theory, but it's a massive challenge to find enough skilled people at the required level and in the numbers needed. The posts are there....

On the on-hold music, we found that if there's a cool soundtrack, people call in just to listen to it! Can you believe it??

I do agree, the PSB title is a bit to close for comfort...

After my recent month-long attempt to get some kind of responce from Vodacom's Customer Care, a call-centre manager or something phoned me. I asked what the thinking was behind the decision to go with the Pet Shop Boys, whether it was somebody's idea of a joke or what?

The best that he could say about that irritating tune was that it wasn't meant to be taken that way.

Vodacom, if that's the only defence you can think of - maybe you really should change it, just not apparently to something too catchy! ;)

This facility doesn't always work. i.e. Pressing # doesn't work or just don't call back. Is it worth the risk using it I ask?

Ummm do you get an electric shock from your phone when you press its # key? - what "risk" are you taking when pressing the # key??? - perhaps it is better if you continue to wait in the call centre queue whilst the rest of us prefer to try and use the # callback facility...

Well the facility is sometimes switched off - so no go there .

Other times you press it and wait..and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and nothing happens. Obviously the risk is you press # and waste time waiting for someone to call and they were never going to call in the first place because they are watching TV or talking to their sista.

You then have to call again and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait...you get the picture dude or should I draw a picture :D
