This morning I call Vodacom Customer Care on the way to work (via hands-free of course :) ) to change the size of my sms bundle.
Midway through the "security questions", after having given my cellphone number, ID number and banking details my signal dies and the call gets cut.
Surely you would expect the woman I was talking to to call me back right? No chance!

I'm miffed that she lacked the tiny bit of common sense required to realize that SHE should call ME back as the chances of me finding her again via the call center are basically none.
Unfortunately she mumbled her name and I didn't bother asking her to repeat it.

After Sundays rugby I would think Call operators would be sensitive to the mental state of the people calling in.

Am I being unreasonable?

I'm happy to call back, I just expected a bit of initiative from the operator.

normally in those big call centres:

they are driven to take incoming calls. Sometimes there are not even the facility to ask for an outgoing line, nevermind dial & make a call.

So even if the person wanted to, perhaps they could not.

I worked in a call centre once and Venomous is right ; we physically couldn't call out from the inbound section :/

Call centre people are measured by how many calls they handle and release. By dropping your call, she just increased her count by 1.

I often hold them on the line as long as possible in order to increase the pressure on them - they really start to squirm, and sometimes you can even get something done.
