I am new to data, and have a iPhone 120s contract. With this I get 250 meg data per month, with one month carry over.

In month 2 now and I see that when I use data, it does not use unused data from last month, but rather data from this month, and only when this month is used up, will I use unused data from last month.

In effect this means that potentially every second month I could have no data carry over because I have to use current month first.

When I queried this with Vodacom the agent and team leader told me "that is the rules". What a helpful answer.

The reason this is done is to rip off customers - plain and simple. If I use up my data and go into OOB at R 2 per meg :( - who is scoring.

If and I know this is a pipe dream, Vodacom actually gave customer service, my unused data from last month would be used first and when used up (in month 2) then I would go to the current month data.

Its the same with the free minutes. It has been like that for a while...

Sadly that is the way of Vodacom and I stand to be corrected but I doubt any of the other cell operators in this country are any better. There are things they could do with ease to offer better value for the consumer but they don't. Data doesn't roll over, free minutes do, not sure about your free sms's. I'm on the same contract.

I'm a heavy data user and have purchased extra data bundles off their website. Some of the bundles on offer keep the bundle rate per MB after you've used up the bundle.

This has always been the case. They spend millions on advertising but can't get their systems working properly.

Another issue: They only got their prepaid billing sytems working with realtime billing. But contracts do not have realtime billing so they can rip us off with OOB.

Vodacom is always looking for a convenient excuse to rip us off.

Agreed!! And they try and con us into believing they care about customers

Errr its not that they can, i bet you they could change it with a flip of a button. They choose not to because it makes them more money!

thats the way all companies do it. roll over only gets used after current months usage is used. It's normal pratice.

That's not the way it works on MTN pre-paid and it's not the way it works on iBurst, so it's not normal practice.

Doesn't change the fact that it's a very deliberate rule to reduce the value a customer gets for his money.

What did u expect from VC or any cellular company.
They give u something, make u think its great.
Then they ram it up you @ss.
Now thats normal practise.

Seeing as people would rather discuss orifices being probed than have a constructive conversation, this thread is now closed.
