Received a deal request email with reference number and I haven't contacted Vodacom regarding any deals :wtf:.

Someone is using your identity to commit fraud and will have a free cellphone. Better follow up.
They probably sent it to your gmail e-mail address. IIRC About a year ago gmail stopped recognising dots in e-mail addresses. So [email protected] would now go to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc.
Ever since this, I have been getting policy docs, account statements, etc to my gmail account. In some cases I have replied to the sender stating they have the wrong e-mail address, but just gave up. Now I just ignored it.
Ooooh, nice scores, where you get them in that format?
Well, I'll guess you have to wait for VC to give feedback.
And remember, if there was fraud, you'd have to wait a bit for a new account to show (that you met the monthly obligation), and if you are already a VC customer in good standing they might not have run a credit check on you and also it might just be added to your VC account and thus not show separate on the credit report.
