My father-in-law tried to migrate to prepaid earlier this week, only to find - to his astonishment - that he had a new contract. Further investigation revealed that he was allegedly upgraded on 11 December 2013 by a phone call from Vodacom Direct.

We have been trying to get this recording to listen to what was said, but it is proving to be impossible.

* Went to Tygervalley shop, advised to phone 082911
* Went back to Tygervalley shop again, kind person there logged call with Vodacom Direct
* Got call from consultant (Vodacom Direct? Customer Care?) that alleges recording can be listened to at *any* store
* Phoned 082911 again, no you can't listen to the recording at any store - you have to phone the upgrade line (which is conveniently closed after 18:00 at night)
* Phoned the store again who says no you can't listen to the recording at the store - only Vodacom Direct
* Phoned the store again and got a little bit upset about this going round and round
* Store phones us again and tells us we have to drive to Canal Walk to listen to the recording

So, this is plain ridiculous. It is possible for Vodacom to do an alleged upgrade over the phone, but when you want to have them prove the contract they find every possible way to deflect this? And there is *no-one* that can sort this out?

Did he get a new phone or not with his upgrade?

He got nothing - he has the same phone.

Let me add this - on checking his statements going back he can now see that there is a discount on his account because it is a contract without a phone.

The problem we have is that we are struggling to find a record of this contract.

I tried going to the Vodashop in Tyger Valley. They unfortunately got robbed this morning.

Went to the two other shops (same franchise apparently) - one said they can request the call, the other one said no it is impossible. Yay.

So it appears I have to get in my car, and drive 20km to Canal Walk to listen to the recording, and drive 20km back again. Instead of them being able to email it to the subscriber in question. I just love it. And, I almost feel certain it won't be available when we get to Canal Walk.

Who can I email in Vodacom?

Have you tried Hello Peter?

They should be able to provide the recording. I know someone who cancelled his contract over the phone- at the end of 24 months, had reference numbers and everything for the calls. Next month he gets a letter stating that he signed an acknowledgement of debt via the phone and will have to pay 3 times his normal monthly fee for the last month. Conveniently the service provider could not provide any recorded evidence. Not wanting to be blacklisted he paid it.

I am out of options. The shop in Canal Walk now also does not know about this - fortunately I got through to them before trying to drive there. How hard can it be for Vodacom to prove they have a contract? X-(

What do I have to do to get an answer? Seriously.

I have been blacklisted by Vodacom even though I have never used their service. From 1995 to 2007 I was with MTN and from 2007 to the present with CellC

I have tried numerous times to find out the origin of the blacklisting, which says "delinquent debt" and can only assume it was some kind of cloning trick used. This dates back to 2004 and they renew it every 3 years. The amount is R 7467.

Not needing to access credit, I could not care less about the blacklisting. However, when I went to buy something from Takealot I was advised that only verified EFTs would be accepted with a 14 day waiting period, on account of "irregular account activity on your record"

I tried Hello Peter but this just elicted a generic reply and nothing more. I feel that Hello Peter has less and less influence with large organisations

VodacomData is back.

He does not get involved with Vodacom direct things. He does not even reply to pm's if you ask for help with Vodacom direct stuff or fraud and stuff like that. They should add a line to say he does not care/can't/ignore these queries....
