Hi, I have a E220 modem, my OS is windows XP, normally then I use the 3G, its rocks my one sock of, but I get these weird randomly disconnects in 2 different ways,

No 1. It just plain normal disconnect

No 2. It unplugs itself and then plug itself back, you can hear it ding ding, like If you have just removed a USB device, and then plugged it back, but if this happens, then I can't connect, if gives me a f*d up error massage, saying the modem is in use stuff, and then I must manually unplug the device and then plug it back again, before it will be able to connect ever again, and it also show two of those "red block thing with a a circle inside" after this problem ocure

Any help?

I have tried it on many PC's, it give the exact same result

But b4 you do the firmware, try a different cable. Could be your device is not getting enough juice.

BTW: My dad bought a second hand one and I though it was faulty as it stopped working. After I flashed it with new firmware it worked like a dream. If you are going to do this - do it only on a notebook or a PC with a good UPS. Takes about 2-3 minutes but you'll brick it if you loose juice.

I have tried 3 different cables, it all does the same thing, its currently on the cable that have 2 USB ports, and both is plugged into the USB ports

I've noticed this with an E220 on Vodacom as well, sometimes the connection just drops and sometimes the modem resets, however I don't get the modem in use errors, that may be the result of the dashboard software you are using.

Strangely this never happens with the same SIM card in my E620, occasionally the signal drop will drop zero, but after a few seconds it goes up again and I don't even have to reconnect.

As suggested in the other half of this thread, try setting your modem to 3G or UMTS only.

My E220 was packaged with a cable that plugs into 2 UBS ports at the same time.
I use that cable when I'm in remote areas to boost to power to the modem.
Perhaps you should also be using that cable?

I've seen this with a few E220's, as well as mine. When the signal goes dead or switches to 2G, its like the Software cant handle it and crashes.

My modem in particular completely bombs out as it seems to have a problem with 2G.

And when VMCLite crashes, the whole modem Disconnects too. Which is why i use VMC 9.3 now.

Download version 3.2.1.156 from Vodacom's website and upgrade your modem. Or take it to your nearest Vodacare so they can do it for you.

I have just installed uninstalled the lite version and installed Setup-9.3.0.9237.zip, but the problem now is that if I press on the connect button:

It connects at 3G and after 2 sec's it goes to GPRS and after 2 sec's into disconnects :confused:

That's the reason why I'm using the lite version

Version 3.2.1.156 IS the lite version

oh OK I have previously upgraded my firmware from this file "E220Update_11.110.05.00.00(3.6M Vista).zip" a couple of month ago

That firmware upgrade seem to have v3.2.1.156 build in, and that auto wants to install then it gets plugged in, I have Setup-9.3.0.9237.zip installed but build in lite version in the modem still prompt and ask to be installed then I plug in in?

Ok I have removed the auto run problem, by following that guide you gave me just now:

But this is the problem what I have then I want to connect via the "Vodafone Mobile Connect" program:

It connects at 3G and after 2 sec's it goes to GPRS and after 2 sec's into disconnects
