I recently upgraded my contract and my phone to new smart phone, moving from Talk 75s to Smart Standard 229. This was towards the end of October but I was sent the wrong phone so I only got my new phone in the beginning of November. I assumed I'd have 150Mb with my new Smart Standard 229 contract and started using it but it turns out the new contract does not kick in pro-rata when you get your new phone, but only at the end of the month. So in the meantime, I am being billed R2 per Mb for the 150Mb I thought I had been allocated with my new phone! That is about 100 times more than I'm paying per Mb for my current wireless broadband service.

Sis, Vodacom! Firstly, to not give me my new Mb with my new phone and secondly, to charge me one hundred times more than the current market price for it.

2 things:

That's the down-side of having a new Galaxy NoteII - a two year leash tied to a company who feels nothing to jerk one's chain.

This thing Vodacom has of only giving you your bundle at the end of the month is crazy. You get your new phone on your new contract but you can't really use it until up to 30 days later. It's like getting a new car without the petrol. I don't see why they can't just do a pro-rata thing. The billing is all done by computers and it's not like it's going to make things more difficult for them.

But here I am complaining about paying a hundred times more for data than the going rate, have you guys seen the discussion about the effective price of an sms in data terms? One oke worked it out at R200 000 per gig!

Bugger, they even too cheap to supply you with a large jar of vaseline. :D

Now with LTE, the Out Of Bundle Shark, is going to grow bigger and fatter faster ...

Hi , please pm me your number and i will have a look at your account.

Yeah well. I added a 500mb data bundle to my contract last month because of such a surprise in October.
And this month - to quote Meatloaf in The 51'st State - '***** me! I've been *ss invaded!'

My contract comes with one of those free 250 mb bundles, so I always have a data bundle bolted on now had 750 mb to use. On the 12th I receive a notification that my 250 mb has been consumed.
As luck would have it - I ended up in hospital from the 16'th to the 20'th. (Kidney stone - drink that water people!)
Bored, surfing the web off my Galaxy S3, safe in the knowledge that I should have more than enough data for this and that the friendly and helpful sms would notify me if I reach my limit. On the 20'th I received a sms that I had 289mb remaining.
No further notifications after that, but I was back home using my Wifi. No harm no foul. My data usage is within limits.

Today I discover that I have been billed R600 for out of bundle data!

I have 3 Vodacom contracts on my name. And one MTN modem for work. Guess which one never gives me any issues?
