I recently got fibre with Vodacom, for which they supplied the Nokia G-240G-E ONT and Vodafone H500-s router.

They only allow very rudimentary control on the router's HTTP interface, specifically of the WiFi.

Port forwarding is made available on their own web portal for the service as a whole, but for the life of me I can't get the port forwarding to actually take effect... I know my PC's firewall rules for this are correct as the ports are open when checked over LAN, but from WAN they aren't.

Does anyone know what email or phone number I should be directing my query to, or is there a rep here who can assist?

Perhaps a restart (of the router) after any changes are applied on the Web portal?

However, these "managed solution" products should probably not be purchased by the tech-savvy, unless there are no competitors/alternatives.

Yeah, I tried power cycles, but there's unfortunately no difference. I forgot to mention that the connection for my PC is direct to the Vodacom router -> ONT, so I shouldn't be dealing with a double-NAT either.

It came as part of the 12-month contract to be eligible for free installation and hardware. To my understanding the router and ONT will belong to me after the contract period is over, so I can ideally reflash the router to a better firmware. It is however not fully OpenWRT capable, unfortunately :l

Since I'm not exposed to the router's config without hacking the thing to get at the config (have a CH341A) I can't use one of my own routers instead, and apparently Vodacom don't allow that for their contract offering during the relevant period anyway.

Vodacom typically Nat everything, you should be able to tell with a trace to somewhere.

If you are natted then you won't be able to port forward.
