Vodacom GPRS/EDGE on MTN data card

I have been given a MTN 3G/GPRS (E620 (I think) PCMCIA) card but don't really fancy using MTN as my service provider. This card must be a "generic" piece of hardware just packaged for MTN, so my question is:

Is it possible to use it with my Vodacom prepaid sim card? If so, what software/rasdial configuration do I need and do I need to "enable" anything on the prepaid sim?

It will work with your VC SIM, you can even use the MTN dashboard if you wanted to. Or you can download the CV dashboard.

Or you can config just a dialup connection with the init strings

Yes, you can use a Vodacom SIM in an MTN branded E620. You can use the supplied software and just create a new profile, set the APN to 'internet' and the number to dial to '*99#'.

Alternatively, you can use Huawei Mobile Partner (choose the 'UTPS' version), or E620 Tool.

If it's a brand new Vodacom prepaid SIM, you might need to enable it for data, call 155 and they'll sort you out.
 
Maybe Vodacom should pay him for his dashboard and sell it with your products?

Thanks, thats what I'm stuck with atm. I'll give 155 a call!
