What is this about on www.nashuamobile.co.za 's latest news bar?

"The Data Bundle tariffs for MYMeg One, Two, Three & Five, as well as GPRS & 3G have been reduced. The new MYMeg tariffs will be effective from 1st November 2005, with the new GPRS & 3G tariffs coming into effect 1st October 2005."

Just wondering because I couldnt see anything on www.vodacom.co.za or anywhere else for that matter =/

Pre-Paid data bundles should have launched yesterday, 1st of October. (It didn't, don't ask...) Together with this, new data tariffs were announced.

Basically, the 1Gb pre-paid and post-paid bundles will be R499/Gb, from the first Gig.

Contracts will (still) be R599 for the first Gig, but R499 for every Gig thereafter. Existing contracts will see the new tariffs on the next billing run.

okay, won't ask about the "should have" part :)
just to clarify though, the new tariffs are also not in effect yet then?

Vodacom3g, does roll-over also fall in the "should have launched" category???

The day roll-over becomes a reality, it'll be announced with such fan-fare on this forum, your PC speakers will blow up! :)

The forum's been instrumental in a few changes for the better already, and we're working on another request that came form here......

Not going to spill the beans now! It's not roll-over but for some even better.....

Am I correct in saying, if you have a 1gig contract, you pay R599 ...... if you go into the shops today and get a new 1gig contract, you pay R499.... is that right? Or existing contract customers will also be reduced to R499?

Yeah, I'd also like to know the answer to Harley's question ... although I suspect there will be no reduction in price for existing users :(

Does this make sense?

1) If you buy a data contract (1GB+) that includes a data card, you pay R599 for the first gig and then R499 for every gig thereafter. The extra R100 for the first gig is to subsidise the card.

2) If you buy a data bundle (they don't include a data card), you pay R499 from the first gig.

3) If you (eventually) buy a pre-paid data bundle (they don't include a data card), you pay R499 from the first gig.

- Current contract holders will see the new rates from next month (i.e. the next billing run)

So:

If you're a contract holder and use more than 1Gb, you score.
If you buy data bundles and use your own phone/card, you score.

how much would the new prepaid gprs tariffs be?
v3g can correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think it matters whether you use gprs or 3g - you pay for the data used, not the type of connection - so it should be the same...
