Hi guys

Well after lots of shouting, phone slamming and head banging I got the information I need.

THIS IS FOR ALL ANDROID USERS WISHING TO UPGRADE TO ANDROID 2.1

The current ROMs out now do not pull your APNs from the network or your sim card, you have to put these in yourself.

After phoning up Vodacom customer care and not getting the help I needed (they could of told me there was a guide online), they simply could not give me the APN details, I had to phone up LEAF who were helpful and gave me all the details I need.

Internet APN
(actually found a guide in the last few minutes on Vodacom's website) Guide

MMS APN
Name - MMS
APN - mms.vodacom.net
mmsc - http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
mms proxy - 192.6.128.13
mms port - 8080
mms protocol - WAP 2.0

I have a HTC Magic, and am wanting to update it to 2.1. can you maybe point me in the right direction.

I have the HTC Magic, and on the forum they call it the 32a. You basically need to load another file after the cyanogen mod as his mod is designed for the magic 32b or dream.

Its quite easy once you have done it the first time, but the first time it also didnt work straight away, I had to play around for about 2-3 hours to get it updated.

Its still only 1.6 update, and I would like to get it to 2.1 now : )

first run these, but i think it says that:
DRC83_base_defanged
update-cm-4.2.15.1-signed

then the important one is the 32a port file:
bc-4.2.15.1-ebi1-signed

if you dont run this AFTER the other file, you phone doesnt boot.

if you update from the cyanogen updater, make sure you run this file after its updated! and make sure that you run a nandroid backup before!

have you rooted your phone?

I struggled with this, but ended up installing some app and it rooted the phone one time. I think it has something to do with the perfect SPL vodacom put on the phone

This doesn't apply the the Nexus One which runs 2.1. I just put my sim in and everything was set up...

my nexus one also worked when I put the SIM in. But later is stopped working.
When I created a new APN and entered the details from the first post, it started working again.

The other two default APNs do not want to work anymore.
The default one has a different APN entry : mms.vodacom.netapnsuffix

So thanks to killerbyte for getting my phone to work again.

My Nexus One is also working fine just by putting the sim in. No problems at all
