Hi guys.
Spoke to vodashop and they dont know when the HTC S730 will be available in SA.. Can we get it on contract yet? Anyone?

Thanks.

I think we'll get it by the time it's replaced. Jeez. It sucks. They are still very much punting the S710.

I was wondering this exact same thing. The S730 has everything I want. I've been looking high and low, Vodacom, MTN, Cell-C even Virgin Mobile and nobody has it. You can buy it at inflated prices on website though.

Until they can give me a S730 on contract I'm not getting one. My current contract expires in 3 months and I intend on letting it and going pay as you go if they can't give me the phone by then.

@ Napalm - Dude.. I have the TyTn 1 and it ROCKS! I have done things to it that i think vodacom dont want to know about or DONT know you can do to it! hahaha

Im just doing this request for a friend and for business support. I get allot of requests at work from people about what phone they should get that would fit there home use and work needs.. And since i saw the S730 i knew this phone would be perfectly at work for the mail applications they use. At the moment i recommend the S710 for most of the users because of the keyboard and easy of use with the front keys since they are use to the old Nokia layout. hehe

We will probably only see this phone in another, ummm, 2 to 6 months as they did with the TyTn's release.. haha But i think this would really be a worth while phone for people thats not looking for a phone like the TyTn but want the keyboard and not a phone like the S310 and S710 but would like to have HSDPA and some nice other extras..

So come on Vodacom.. Get the phone on the market ASAP!!!!

TyTn has HSDPA 1.8mbps , Wifi, Bluetooth 2.0, Has rollout keyboard, 2.8" TFT Touch Screen. Very loud phone too, for those who like hecticly hard MP3's as ringtones.

Can anyone from Vodacom or MTN just give an update on when we can expect this phone on contract?? Please..

My contract expires soon. I intend to let it. I don't want the S710. It's old, it's slow and it doesn't have the features I want. Why would I be stuck with a phone I don't want for 2 years?

I got a call from Vodacom or EliteMobile, forget which, reminding me that my contract is about to expire and asking which phone they can mail me. I told them I don't want a new contract because they don't offer the phone I want. Well which one do I want she asks. The HTC S730 I tell her. Oh but we do have the S710 in stock! I don't want the S710, I want the S730, the newer one. Oh... looks like we don't have that. Of course you don't.

Howcome we can't get technology that is now almost 6 months old in SA? This phone has been out since Dec 2007 for farksakes, and their still pushing the S710 as the best thing since sliced bread. Why don't you sell me a dial up connection while you're at it?

But with the S710 you get GPRS. Why do you want dial up? :D

But yes, I must admit it is stupid how long it takes for new phone to get here...
Valid point actually, maybe I should get it after all. Surfing at those blistering, space-age, GPRS speeds I'll be laughing at all those losers with their dial-ups. Not only laughing, but doing so in a pompous French accent while chewing on a croissant and sipping red wine. The phone is sounding better and better to me, though I might just have been over exposed to microwave radiation.

Hey Gti, yep the Diamond does look very kewl, but I really want the qwerty keyboard,
Went to a Vodashop on Mon and asked about the S730 and the guy knew what I was talking about, so I said I would like one...
Well got the call today and it is not available as of yet through Vodacom! Surprise Surprise!
Went to check out what Leaf say and they have it available to but outright at just over R5000. Crazy that I can get it from Leaf but no the Vodacom shop one floor down???
Anyway, Vodacom have not got it on the dealer list which is dated to the middle of August so no idea when it will be available. So in the mean time stuck with what I have, any ideas of what would be similar to the S730???

AAAAARGGGH!
Sorry for the dual post, damn Vodacom dropped my connection half way through posting.
Isn't 3G just great!?

Hey GTi,
Have looked at the Diamond, does look very cool, although as a long time user of various touch screen devices I am very wary of them, they never live up to their promises, plus I have become so used to the qwerty keyboard that I kinda can't do without it...

I have had feedback from Vodacom, and they reckon middle to the end of July!!!

Can't understand this as you can walk into Leaf and buy one of the shelf, which kinda puts pay to the reasoning that they still need to test it in the network...
Anybody from Vodacom willing to comment???
