So if any of you have the 5S and are with Vodacom, would you mind testing something? I've seen this on two iPhone 5S' on Vodacom.

Call the number of the mobile phone and wait for the ringing sound on the caller side. Notice that the phone doesn't ring while it's ringing on the caller side. After exactly 10 seconds you'll hear a "double ring" on the caller side and directly after that the phone starts ringing (almost as if there is call forwarding).

I've called Vodacom and we've removed all forwarding from my number and the problem persists.

As I mentioned I tested this with another iPhone 5S on Vodacom and the same thing happens. It could be unrelated to Vodacom but I don't have another nano-SIM to test with.

Would anyone here be prepared to give it a quick test (regardless of network) and post your results?

if i recall correctly, its to do with LTE , something to do with not being able to recieve calls on LTE, those few seconds, before the phone ringing is the network dropping the phone to 3g

i could be waaaay off as well

Yup , that's it , only way of fixing it is turning of LTE on device . Really silly thing , missed important calls because people thought I'm not available

Makes sense it does it with my wife's Note III also... I wanted to check her diverts haha but this answers it...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like it's a hardware limitation of LTE or could it be fixed through a firmware upgrade? That is quite a big dent in people calling you - 10 seconds of complete dead time before it rings makes people think you're not available.

Ahh - mystery explained. Wow, quite a bad issue to have with LTE. Wondering if I should keep it on. As mentioned the delay on mine is about 10 seconds.
