Vodacom is ready to let users roll over their data

Vodacom has prepared its network for the implementation of the amended End-User and Subscriber Services Charter Regulations published by ICASA, although it still needs some clarification from the regulator.

These regulations will require mobile operators to enable the rollover of unused data and to facilitate the transfer of data to other users on the same network.

MTN has been rolling over contract data . Prepaid on 30 day bundles just required buying another small bundle which extended expiry date, it's been like that for ages ? You can't tell me you didn't know ?

I didn't know that honestly. But in my opinion its still an unfair practice as it still requires you to keep purchasing data packages.

Nope, simply have to see which 3GPP protocol aspects they can violate

Not really you adding more data and in return extending the data, you not paying nothing and not getting any data in return, measly R10 can extend a far more expensive data for another 30 days, plus you add 20mb to the mix.

Yes data should rollover free of charge, before these new changes, people could have had extended their data expiry indefinitely for R10.00 a pop, additionally the people that want their data to roll over, didn't buy small bundles in the first place, and unlikely to do with R10.00 bundles anyways, they more likely to buy larger bundles to extend with any. It's like complaining with a chicken and duck under both arms.

Yes it should be free of charge, but at min of R10.00 for say a 20gig bundle @R1250 is peanuts and well worth it free or not.
