Vodacom launches gaming first

Johannesburg - Telecommunications group Vodacom has launched the world's first location-based multiplayer game to combine actual map data with virtual geography.

The game is called Legends of Echo and is developed by Vodacom subsidiary The Grid.

Anyone tried this yet? It looks like it's only available for Nokia and Sony phones.

Pretty pathetic so far. It seems to only be available for SE and Nokia phones and the site is very buggy. Can't even get into the forums and the FAQ is pretty useless.

It always amazes me when a company launches a new product but don’t bother making sure the website of the related product is fully functional. It’s pretty inexcusable for any company to be without a proper web site these days, especially if your product is an online game… but then again, they can’t even get their company website fully functional so this shouldn’t really be that much of a revelation.
