[Vodacom] MMS Settings iPAQ hw6515

Probably the wrong place to ask but 111 and 155 don't have an answer :(
I need Vodacom MMS settings for my HP iPAQ hw6515

Any help would be appriciated.

Start - settings - connections tab - connection icon. create a new modem connection under My work network. name it anything .. modem - Celular line GPRS - access point name = mms.vodacom.net - no user name no password.

open your message box ... i am 100% on the interface but you should have a tools button ... mms settings

in the connect via = My work network .. now hit the servers tab
server name - mms.vodacom.net
gateway - 196.6.128.6
port number - 9201
server address - http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za

make sure this is set to default ..

from time to time some settings do not take effect right away .. hit the power button on and off .. and then soft reset the device ..

let me know if you have any hiccups ... :)
 
To sumarise what The Guy posted:

1) Create a network connection that will connect to the mms apn.
2) Setup your MMS client with the settings provided above
3) Ensure the MMS client use the network defined in 1) to download the mms.

It looks like you don't have point 3) sorted.

I tend to agree ... you GPRS connection should be seperate from your internet connection ...
Internet should be under my ISP
and MMS should be under My work network and make sure your connect via = My Work network in your mms settings

these settings work
 
Mmmm. Nope still does not download.
Everything is set up correctly.

1. Under MMS settings
Preferences Tab: Connect via "My Work Network".
Servers Tab:
Server Name "mms.vodacom.net"
Gateway: 196.6.128.6
Port number: 9061
Server address: http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za

2. My work network settings:
Name for connections: MMS Vodacom
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name: mms.vodacom.net
No user name, password or Domain entered.

I hope I haven't deleted any necessary folder or file (I have been know to do these things :)
 
change the port number to 9201 ... 8080 also works

Also try using wap 1.2 instead of 2.0 if you have that option
 
Aaagh. I give up... well not really.

Still no joy with MMS and now, to add to my misery, I have managed to lose GPRS settings I use to connect to internet :(
 
Damn MMS

I have entered the settings just as you all have said and the first time i tested it worked. Now i cant receive from anybody. Just get a message saying that it was unable to download. I can send without any problems though..

Please any ideas?

which connection are you connected to when this happens? if you are connected to active sync ( docked to your PC ) you cant use MMS ... the same goes for if you have an active internet connection.
It is wierd that you can send but not receive ... one way traffic only ?????

I set it up just as you said in this forum. I have even tried the different ports. I tried it when i found this last year and i got one of the guys at work to send me an MMS and it worked fine. I then received one this month and it wont download.

I do it normal.. not connected to the PC

is it just the one MMS you can receive ??? get someone to send you a MMS and let us know what happens ... send one to someone and have them reply to you
 
Rehash old thread time - anyone get their IPAQ 6515 working with MMS? I found this old thread and while trying to get mine to work. It seems I can send MMS but I can't receive any? Any ideas?

hey guys...

here is what i used and it worked perfectly after a soft reset...
depending on your phone OS version, either wap 1.2 or wap 2 will work... so try both and lets see...

i am using wap 2 and it works fine...

Please consult your cellphone user manual for directions on how to implement these settings.

It's been some years now and now I have a HP Ipaq 6515 and still I can't get this MMS thing right. Tried all of the above mentioned options. NO luck. Has anything come up in the past years regarding MMS for HP Ipaq 6915 settings. Using Vodacom. Please HELP!!
