Vodacom network problems caused by Germiston cable break (17 June 0211)

How does this affect the website (outside Gauteng)? The darn thing never works. When it's up it goes in login loops:mad:

Running to the ASA is a colossal waste of time and I didn't know they had jurisdiction over an individual in a forum, especially since the person who made the theoretical claim was Jannie and not me.

BTW: There are people who get 2 Mb/s on the network, latencies of 42ms and more than 220GB downloaded in a month. Verified independently on this forum...

I used to get (very close to) 2Mb/s on the iBurst network a year ago, so I can vouch for the 'two-modems-glued-together' solution. It was very stable.

Of course, it's a bit slow compared to my current modem where I often see speeds of around 28Mb/s to speedtest.net, even though it (my current modem) is less than half the price of the 'two-modems-glued-together' option. ;)

Thanks, I'll settle for independent verification of 2 Mb/s on a national spectrum usage of 5 Mhz. The snide remark about two modems glued together implies a DIY that can easily be replicated. Unluckily it is not as simple as that. It has two radios that are managed by the modem and the BTS to double the throughput. Taking two Dark Knights and a tube of superglue won't achieve the same results. This is a neat little trick that has been around for ages and the real question is why it hasn't been used elsewhere (except maybe in wifi?) One of the biggest benefits is stability.
