Vodacom Network Problems

Nooooooooooooooooo..... say it isn't so.

Well, actually, if the network is stable... no dropped packets, it's not such a problem really. Troughput hasn't been that much of an issue for me, it's the data integrity that concerns me. Of course, some of you need to have access to all of your bandwidth. Just here to say that I'm not pulling big bandwidth, so, everybody else can have my share of the bandwidth. Heh, just leave a little slot open for my few kb's.
 
My connection is now like a 'lucky packet'. Sometimes I get GPRS, sometimes 3G, many times nothing. :-(

I know it is not me as nothing has changed on my side. Hope Vodacom sorts it out soon.

Until we get an 'official' 'We've sorted out all our problems!' from Vodacom/V3G, we're just going to have to wait. No point complaining when they're still trying to sort out the problem. Of course, it was nice to talk about it to pass the time, let off a little steam.
 
i dont want to have megs left by the month end ... i just have no choice.
 
Maybe slightly off topic:
Connecting via my 6680. So if it picks up a 3G tower, it tries to connect via 3G. Is there a way to connect via GPRS, even if the tower is 3G (in the light of GPRS being a bit better atm)
 
Lets start sending our frustating concerns to the CEO of Vodacom. In the old days of the fax I have heard of a person that was sending a fax every minute to the CEO, at the end he blocked the fax and they had no choice to attend to the problem.

So if there is a way lets start bombarding him with problems.

The frustration is that I cannot work at home with the speed of GPRS - so have to work at a hotspot.
 
Well said, Tiger Tael. If we waste the guys time having to read faxes complaining about a problem they are aware of and trying to resolve, who knows how long we will wait for a resolution!

There is no need to terrorize Vodacom .... they are fully aware of the problem.

The fact that it is reported here, is already a PR disaster.

The risk of IT-Web (or other papers) picking it up is a nightmare to them

It will most probably hit the MyADSL home page as well, and then it will get onto news.google.com.

Lastly, from experience I know that Vodacom don't take problems such as these lightly. You can be sure that a bunch of techies are working on the problem.

I would send Alan an email every 30 seconds but the link keeps on going down :D

Can you guys please do a few performance / connectivity tests? I'm currently getting 380Kbits/s from the Telkom ADSL speed test on the internet APN.

BBSA, and the other Blue(ish) Bulls, your numbers will be interresting.

We have found one specific problem, but I personally would not yet bet the farm.....
