Vodacom / Open Access

I've just seen the new (not yet released) vodacom capped pricing and quotas, and I can confirm that it will completely blow most providers UNCAPPED accounts out of the water.

Once the pricing is officially release I'm pretty sure everyone will be very very excited about it

I would love to see this pricing. Do you know when the pricing will be available?

Don't trust vodacom to keep the pricing fair, tbh. And again, Capped Account, why would I want that?

I havent been given a date, but I would imagine in the next few weeks, as they're starting to go live with a few estates

because the capped quotas are way more than any AUP on uncapped that I've seen

I have not seen any AUP on any uncapped fibre lines. And I know I have not yet hit mine on my 20mb/s line, which I have probably taken over 1tb of data on this month, just to push it and see what I can do, been going out of my way to test the line to the max, so basically, the usage that they see is not normal for me.

Like the AUPs on fibre without limits? Those ones?

at the price point vodacom is offering it at, yes - I would say so. Certainly far far cheaper than the crystalweb uncapped offerings, and at the data caps that they're offering, its essentially uncapped. You'd be very hard pressed to use the full allocation every month - even at 100mbps

So you are talking about 2tb - 4tb data caps?

New prices are coming soon hopefully next week from what I have heard

New prices are horrible. Looks like FireStream partnered with Vodacom. Looks like good deals but I am not sure of Fair usage limts

We are also hopefully finalising things with Vodacom. We won't have FUPs as usual. But don't want to confirm anything prematurely from a pricing perspective.

@PBCool I know you guys have been trying for quite a while. I look forward to seeing you finalise your deal with Vodacom. Please let me know I will be the first one to sign up. Vodacom already have live fibre connections in the estate I stay in.

We have a basic agreement in place and are awaiting their cross connect to go in, from there we will do a POC and from there offer services. So we are nearing a commercial offering :).

I know it is difficult to say but how long do you expect it to take.

With these big guys you never know, but as soon as possible from our side.

Looks like vodacom are useless. Their fibre offering is not truly fibre. They send the signal to a close by antenna and run fibre cables from the antenna to your house. This is a very unreliable way to do this. So no matter which isp you choose (if they ever allow open access) there are going to be issues.

That's a bit of an unfair assessment don't you think. Firstly, they only do this in areas where there are no Vodacom fibre running past the installation point, secondly, our estate are connected like that and I'm very happy with the service. It's reliable and fast, not sure what more you would need or why you would think it's unreliable?

New prices are horrible. People are using 1TB-2TB of data for half the price vodacom is charging. 500gb FUP on a 20mb line is a joke.
