The past 4 weeks we are experiencing increasing problems with Vodacom in the Krugersdorp (Rant en Dal) area. These problems are not only with one modem, but with three different ones. It is not only us, but also other people in the area who experience the same.
The past 4 weeks, we cannot stay connected for more that 15-30 minutes. The connection would simply disappear and nothing would open or work. We then need to reconnect, but often we have problems reconnecting the first time. We only get reconnected after the 3rd, 4th or 5th attempt.
Vodacom clearly shows 3G and even HSUPA reception, but the disconnections still continue.
On many occasions, we will get connected, but no web pages will open, and nothing on the Internet would work. Again, Vodacom will show great 3G or HSUPA reception.
The past two days, we are experiencing about 40 – 150 disconnections per day.
But, here is my problem:
Every time we get disconnected, we are unable to open any webpages or make use of anything connected to the Internet. Despite this, I can see on Vodacom’s software that bandwidth are being deducted every time we attempt to open a website.
I never took notice of this until yesterday when I recorded this.
During all the disconnections I experienced, I was unable to make use of the Internet and Vodacom’s software deducted about 2.1MB in bandwidth.
I checked my remaining bandwidth in intervals and can confirm that this 2.1MB was indeed taken from my account, despite the fact that I was unable to open websites or software connected to the Internet.
I do have a problem with the poor service delivery, but the bandwidth issues may become a bigger problem as I see this as quite unethical or even bordering criminal activities.
Just imagine even less than 1MB taken from users who experience connection problems, and Vodacom would make millions a day.
Can someone please explain this?
***** Edit....
Oh yes, I also want to mention that Blackberry BIS has become totally useless in our area the past month. We have 3 BB's in our household and it takes around 4 minutes for Google.co.za to open....
