I got a sms from Vodacom with notification of price increases from April 1st and now I'm wondering how this affects those of us who got the Black Friday deals?

So RED VIP 15GB Unlimited has gone from R1889 to R2021 which is an increase of R132.

I got the deal last BF for R736. Will they add the difference on or anyone know what the story is?

Hey bud last I recall it doesn’t increase at all. Well mine didn’t for that Bf deal

But yeah seems like each year they do these increases now

I have a black Friday deal from 2021 and it icnreased last year. 400gb went from R229 to R243. It will definitely increase. I just wonder if they will give the extra 20% anytime data too. IMG_20230302_080646.jpg

for a 24-month contract at EUR60 per month you can get an iPhone 14 (pay in EUR229) which comes with unlimited data of up to 10Mbps (unlimited 5G-ready), and unlimited text/calls within Europe (100 minutes to other countries).
We get screwed in South Africa!

The networks here keep using the terrestrial TV signal taking up bandwidth as an excuse for our data costs. We'll have to see what happens when we finally move to digital TV

so they saying the contract you have signed for can be changed. i signed up to pay a certain fee and now they want more. cant ICASA look into this. i think its day light robery

I agree!
It's making contracts even less attractive

Did you guys receive the 20% of additional anytime data.

Yes I now get 600mb instead of 500mb on topup.

But the data line didn't change - still 400gb
I have the 24 month 400GB data contract (400gb anytime + 400gb night data), but haven't seen the price increase yet.

What is the new monthly price on your 400GB data contract, and what was the old price ?
Also, are you on the 24 month or 36 month contract period ?

Thank you

Saw this morning the 400gb + 400gb went up from R243 to R260. The data remains the same though. 36 month contract.Screenshot_2023-06-03-11-44-05-005-edit_za.co.vodacom.android.app.jpg

I'm on the 3 year "100GB Home Internet Price Plan-Top Up" and only signed up on 28Feb23 at R299.
I was sent the following link to determine my new tariff from 1Jun23

According to that link:
100GB Home Internet Price Plan-Top UpR720,00R771,00
So I got R720-R421 discount=R299 and after 1Jun23, mine will cost R771-R421discount=R350, so a R51 (17%) increase in 4 fncking months!!
I'm fuming!!!

I think a lot of us are fuming. Imagine you sign a 1 year lease agreement for an apartment, then a few months later they tell you they will increase your monthly fee because "Vodacom also does that, so it is also legal for us".

No, because a lease agreement of an apartment states what the rent is for the duration of the contract.

Cellular contracts state that the monthly fee is subject to annual increases (or could be).

That’s the fine print that no one ever reads. This discussion happens every year when vodacom or MTN etc increase pricing.

Nowhere does it ever say that you sign for a fixed fee for the duration of the contract. You bind yourself to a service, to a certain amount of minutes/data/sms, etc. And you need to pay for the service.

Don’t know why this is so difficult to understand…but granted, the way it is presented might be confusing. But they are not breaking any contract terms by increasing tariffs.

Can you direct me (or should I say.. us) where in vodacom's contract does it state that.
Then I have a reason bang my head against the wall

The discount is supposed to increase as well.
I have a 5GB line and the net increase was around 7%. Both the listed price and the discount went up by 7%.
