So my 3G contract ended last month.
Been paying R250 for 24 months as agreed.
Now I go onto month to month.
My payment should be R189 as I have paid back our agreed amount of R250 for 2 years.
500 megs of data is R189.
But noooooo Vodascum cannot or will not change this.
So after 5 calls and 3 visits to various stores, I threatened them with going to ICASA to make a complaint about this, now they somehow are able to do this.

Bunch of gangsters.
I cannot wait until the CPA comes into action (consumer protection act)
Time for these guys to be brought down a notch.

The real problem is people being to lazy to do their jobs properly.

Why was the heading changed?
Vodacom are demonstrating unethical behaviour and the title should not have been changed and yes they are thieves.
What about the people who dont query this?
Jeeez I am angry

A lot of notches.
Can't wait to see what their representative on this forum answer to this.
Congrats for getting them to agree. That deserves a Olympic Medal. Very few achieve that.:o

I am sick and tired of being treated like these guys own us and we must be grateful for their *** attitudes and *** service.

People must know that after the term of contract, you DO NOT have to keep paying the same amount of money.
You have been paying a portion of money for either a phone or modem which is not paid for.
Let them try and get away with this again !!

It happens... depends on who you ask...
When you signed your contract data tariff were different...

Its upto the consumer to notify the SP to change the tariff, its not done automatically.
Did they offer to upgrade the line?

The data contracts work just like the voice contracts.

You sign a 24-month contract and a fee per month is set. Once the 24-month contract expires you can either carry on with a month-to-month contract on the same fee structure until you cancel it, or you can get an upgrade of some sort, say the latest modem, and the contract is renewed for 24-months.

In other words, just like the voice contracts. It's been this way for 15 years. But I suspect people think because it's data, it works differently.

Where most people make a mistake is not to ask for their upgrade after 24 months. We're quick to get the latest phone but why not the latest modem?

They will.
With the very next bloke that walks in there.
Please help me!!!!! if a contract expires on the 10/06/09 there is nothing come11/06.
As per usual VC employ people with absolute no knowledge and is prepaired to back them up. Regardless.

Why in god's name would she want to upgrade?
So she can get a new modem? and be locked in for another 24 months? With crap service and crap speeds
She has a perfectly good modem.

She has paid back the agreed amount and now should have the benefit of paying what any other person would pay for a 500 meg package WITHOUT a modem.
This stinks to high heaven and should be reported to ICASA and people need to be made aware of this unethical tactic.
The modem has been paid back - how can they still charge her for it?

By the way the contract is in my name but my sister uses it.

The manager at Sandton SQ. Is so brain dead - he looked at me like I was speaking another language.
So sick of bad service.
At least the lady at the other branch in Sandton understood and agreed

you cant get the new K3565 modem @ 199 per month on the STD MyMeg 500. If you upgrade your existing 3G contract, the new tarriff will be loaded and instead of paying R249 PM, you will then pay R199. Contract will be extended for 24 months.

What do you mean my your post "if a contract expires on the 10/06/09 there is nothing come11/06." Getafix?

Perhaps this will help Marine....cancell the 3G line that you have now finished the contract term for. Once the line goes inactive, then you can get a data sim and then load the 500 Meg montly bundle R189.00 on there and just use the modem you already have. This of course is provided she has another Vodacom contract for ther cellphone.

Why not offer a reduced rate as an upgrade? Why cancel? I still need my number. Or am I forced again to either upgrade and be bound for the next 24 months, or shut up and pay up.

Why can't I keep my number at a reduced rate, the handset is paid for, until I want to upgrade.

As you say, this mugging is been going on for 15 years. Will today be to late to change to a honest way?

Think it's the franchise stores need some training imo.
I went to a vodoshop here a year or so ago asking for a 6110 nav. and the guy told me it was obsolete. I didn't argue just about turn and walk out. That shop is closed down now, go figure.

Amen, someone actually knows what to do !!
Funny this took me most of this morning to accomplish.
They dont advertise this or want you to do this as they lose out on another 24 months of contract.

Same thing today I walked out of the Sandton SQ branch as this "manager" didnt know what I was saying and kept repeating himself  He had this blank look on his face. Maybe he thought I was asking for something for free?

Exactly, It is time for a class action against them.
They were discussing this on 702 about the new CPA and how people can now launch class action law suits against these companies.
I must hand it to the ANC for this act.

I effectively pay R 177.86 a month for 1GB with MTN prepaid (using their 2GB bundle over 2 months). I always get a comment from the tellers "how!.. so much airtime". :)

Glad I could help Marine. Getafix was not terribly impressed with my suggestion. YIKES!. Cant please everyboy I guess. But I think the data sim route would then be best for you at least. When you do want a new modem...you can always get a new 3G contract :-)

You are 100% correct, they WILL NOT allow you to do it any other way.
ROFL the guy says why not get the new contract - you get a new modem. Brain dead people there, why would I want 2 modems?

The contract doesn't exist anymore. It is fulfilled. No contractual obligation exists bilaterally amongst the partners.

What VG3g says: For 15 years going now, after the contract expired VC kept on charging you the full amount as if you are still paying for the handset.

Why don't VC offer a reduced rate from their side on expiry date. If the customer doesn't request a upgrade VC will charge you the full rate.

I think that is the jest of this thread.

Because that would be the right thing to do, but no Vodacom wont do that.
Disgusting behaviour and more people need to know about this.

Just a bit of info. This problem might also be due to system limitations. When doing a tarriff migration, we are only able to select the base tarriffs. So no tarrifss with reduced subs etc. Only when we activate a new line or do a upgrade can we then select a deal that is loaded up with the discounted subs etc. So in effect, to get the reduces subs you have to upgrade. Dont shoot the messenger. Just trying to explain.

What I meant by the above marine is that when you do want/need a new modem, THEN you can take out a 3G contract again...or pay cash for it...either way. Not that you need to take out a 3G contract now again and sit with two modems. Was thinking in case the one you already have goes faulty or lost or stolen. Thats all.

No no no I fully understand. Thanks man I agree. Was talking about the consultant at Vodashop

With the billions of rands they make in profit every year, let them go and implement a new system. ;)

Amazing how in this country we have to always fight for what is right.
