Vodacom punts local apps

The Vodacom Apps Store has reached 100 000 downloads in its first month, and the company is now launching a program to support local talent in applications development.

Is it my imagination or is VODACOM's web site the most frustrating site
may be its just me
not available
and cant find things on that site

Does staff writer not have a weekend?

Maybe that is why so many articles from so many sources are of such poor quality (not attacking him here but just a general comment).

I simply don't see the point of the Vodacom Apps store for Android devices. The apps on there are not local only, they don't really promote local apps better than any other apps, and it's horrible to use (you have to manually set your device type, otherwise you get apps that don't even work on your phone!). When you complain to them about broken features on the site, they simply answer : "That's the way the website works". Because the sub-contract the running of the store to Appia, they really don't bring anything to the table. There's no way they can compete with the Android Market app on all Android phones, so I really just don't see the point.

If I can go the the Market and get all the free and paid for apps I could ever want for my SGS, can some advise why I should go to VC too?
