Vodacom R5 prepaid data promotion

Wow. It only lasts one day?! That's ridiculous. How are we expected to finish 5 MB in one day

Apart from the ridicolous price of R1000/Gb couldn't they at least let it expire at 06:00 next day?

Whereas in the rest of the world, you can get unlimited data for 7 days (and truly unlimited and unshaped) for less than R100. This requires a developed data-centric market though - one in which all connection types are developed. All of the network operators will continue to take advantage of the customer like this for as long as the regulatory environment suppresses development of the overall market.

I actually really like this sort of concept, but its implementation here is crap. Although any cheaper and they'd have to re-evaluate their entire pricing strategy. Not gonna happen in a hurry...

I don't get it - how can vodacom and MTN have such a big price difference compared to cellC?

It's more than 5x the price difference! How can 2 giants be more than 5x more expensive.

VC is stumbling around the ring like a punch-drunk fighter who should have retired years ago.

April Fool's day arrived more than 7 months early!

It is unbelievable that a big company can come up with such a ridiculous "promotion" I bet AKC must be hosing himself.

Ag what JVZ probably comes up with some bull**** story to justify this crap promotion because it is the ideal solution for his domestic or the migrant mineworker and we at MYBB are not the target market

Can't wait for December when my contract runs out, then switching to Cell C. Vodacom is falling behind, way behind.

Wonder what 5 years from now will look like, i am guessing they are pulling a Nokia, happy with the masses using their product, not caring that the niche wants iPhones and Androids, until it is too late.

wow 5Mb... was just trying to think what one would do with 5Mb? but i guess its meant for a specific target audience.(and perhaps more intended for cellphone user than computer connection)
(lol... just thinking, it may take more than 5Mb just to get this activated on v website :) )
can just imagine the logistics of keeping track of all these different contracts and promotions, and have the accounting behind it work correctly.

the networks operators, all of them should just simplify the packages... maybe save some money by putting a less complicated system, and pass on the savings to cheaper packages :-)
But i guess the systems have been bought, and the people hired, so gotta go with it.

Still... i guess there are still positives to be seen in this : baby steps yes, but moving forward, more choice, and (at least for the target mkt) lower rates.

The table should also show Cell C's 12 MB for R1.50. That's 12.5c/MB and valid for 30 days.

Is it just me or is vodacom releasing ALL these funny and ridiculous promos that means nothing to any one?

Cellc. Simple you pay R1.50 for 12MB of data and if its finished it 15c a mb.
8ta gives you free airtime when you recharge and its quite a huge amount that can be used for voice, sms and data
MTN Zone gives free calls to other mtn subscribers on selective times..... [not so impressive but atleast something]

Vodacom R5 for 5mb that expires same day and out of bundle of R2 per mb.

Vodacom is just making a joke of themself to be honest. I'm not some kind of fan but I kinda love promotional offers but seriouslly vodacom you should rethink this.
