Vodacom remains valuable asset

Vodafone has made its intensions to increase its current 50% stake in Vodacom clear, but Telkom says that it is not overly keen to dispose of its 50% share of Vodacom.

At a recent Telkom presentation the CEO Reuben September said that the company will only dispose of Vodacom if a “compelling strategic rationale convinces us to do so”.

Just one compelling reason: if Telkodemonopolies wants access to GSM spectrum of its own, then Telkodemonopolies should be required by !CASA, to first sell off its full 50% of Vodacom - since Telkodemonopolies already has access to GSM spectrum through Vodacom.
