Vodacom revives 4U

I've never heard of month-to-month contracts till now, always 24 mothns.

The 4U option was available as a month-to-month, they had a huge advertising thing and a upgrade package they you could buy for conversion to M2M.

HAving said that, I'd rather be on Virgin, as I won't have to guess just how big the rip-off is when I phone MTN or Cellc, just one rate.

That's where the real gotcha is, the is a massive price increase with MTN, Voda and CellC, when you phone another network on the contract packages.

I have MTN mycall100, MTN-MTN, 1.80... MTN-Telkom, 2.00 and MTN-VodaCom/CellC, 2.75.

With Virgin a similar contract at R100 a month is, R1.95 (5 first 5 min/day) and thereafter (1.55).

so peak times (most used times), are less on Telkom and other operators. the breakeven on same operator calls would be around 6 minutes a day.

So unless you actually use the 85 minutes of off-peak on MTN it appears that virgin mobile is a better option.

Anyone have thaughts when compared to vodacom?

D

what i don't get is why would anyone go for a month to month contract on vodacom if the sub is exactly the same as a 24 month contract. The only person who saves is vodacom as they save the subsidy.

How much?
No monthly subs for the 4U. The call charges are higher than normal though. I have one for my blackberry which is fine as I rarely if ever make or receive calls on it. You can put most bundles on it (except for sms bundles for whatever reason).

Its ok for data bundles and such but otherwise its nothing to write home about.

Depending on your calling habits - particularly if you rarely make out going calls - then its better than having to pay for a package.

Course you know how people swoon when they offer a 'free' phone which you dont get this way.

Vodacom i'm pleased to see you realise your advertising sucks.

First that naked meerkat thing that RUINED the bodyrockers song for everyone, then the new stupid ghost busters crap. Its not even funny. Or scary. Just dumb.

Start advertorials describing how your products work.
