I would love to have someone in vodacom senior management to help me. I have dealt with too many people over the phone that dont seem to have an IQ above 50. Let me explain my situation. I took out a blackberry q5 contract for 289 which includes 200mb of data and free sms's and minutes etc. Im getting ridiculous data charges on my contract which is just not possible. On the 5th of this month I had apparently gone 500mb over my 200mb. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!! I dont have any applications running in the backround and when I am at home and at work I am connected to Wifi. I also have a Data capture application on my device which shows total usage for mobile data and wifi data. The application states i have used 6mb of mobile data and 100mb of wifi data so its complete nonsense they saying i am that much over. I listed my complaint on hellopeter and they told me it would be audited and call me back in a fews days. I finally get the call today from someone who seems to be in that audit department, he is telling me its my background apps and what not. Im trying to explain to the guy that its still not possible for me to have gone 700mb in 5 days of the month, but he cant seem to understand that. I absolutely refuse to pay that much for data that I am definitely not using. I would love to speak to someone in senior management to actually resolve this and either refund me for these incorrect charges or I will go to the bank and block the vodacom debit order because people in the department cant seem to care about this issue. Even if i left facebook, whatsapp and my email open 24/7 in 5 days yet alone a month there is no chance I can have 700mb downloaded. Besides I have my data monitor application as proof as well!

Best I can advise is for you to log a data dispute with customer care. They will investigate and confirm that the data was used with your sim, your phone and which APN it travelled through.

Data monitoring apps will not be accurate if your sim is taken out and used in other devices such as a modem etc. Also, if you have a data sim linked to your number, your data monitoring app also wont take this into account.

I had customer once who was screaming at me because of data used on her sons sim which was used in a Blackberry. We investigated and saw on the system that for a few hours the sim was utilized in a 3G dongle. After the mother put some pressure on the kid he caved and confessed he and his friend took the sim and put it into the modem and downloaded a movie or something.

Not saying this is what happened here .... but things like this happens more frequently than what people realise.

You can contact 082155 or 082111 (free from a Vodacom sim)

I have never taken my Sim out this phone. I have no need for a 3g dongle or anything like that. Vodacom just sent me the data report and its an absolute joke. on the 2nd September there is 90 charges of 4.89 between the times of 01am and 06am, the exact times that I am sleeping. Funny how the IMEI on the data report isnt even the same IMEI as that of my phone as well.

This thread is the reason why I'm staying on TopUp with my new upgrade, even if it means I need to stick to a more basic phone for another two years.
