I saw a email from Vodacom VSP informing their franchises that all "Prepaid & Top-Up" tariffs were adjusted as of 3 April 2010. This email was only received yesterday @ 12h00. eg. Top up 315 (per min billing) was R1.72 for on net,now reduced to R1.55, not much change in off net calls eg. was R2.30 now R2.20.

Wonder when the rest of the customers will get know?

The communication will be sent to all contract clients with the invoices.

Just received it... WTF do I get weekend minutes or weeknight minutes?, and unused minutes expire at the end of the month...
With effect from 1 May 2010, the following changes will apply to your tariff package:
1. You will be given the choice to select one of two MORE MINUTES bundles to use when it best suits you. These include: Option 1 A 60 MORE MINUTES Weekend bundle (Saturday 00h00 to Sunday 23h59), or Option 2 A 30 MORE MINUTES Weekday nights (Monday to Friday 20h00 to 07h00 excluding Public Holidays)
bundle. Please note:
• You will automatically receive option 1 i.e. 60 MORE MINUTES Weekend bundle. Should you prefer option 2 i.e. 30 MORE MINUTES Weekday nights bundle, simply contact Customer Services on 082 111. The new option will take effect at the beginning of the next month.
• The MORE MINUTES bundle is additional to the 240 anytime minutes included in your Talk 240 tariff package. Please note that the MORE MINUTES bundle can only be used to make calls to other Vodacom customers.
• Any unused MORE MINUTES will expire at the end of the month.
2. We have simplified our out-of-bundle local call rates to only include 2 rates that apply all day, i.e. one rate for: • Calls made to Vodacom customers, charged at R1.49 (incl. VAT) per minute, and another for • Calls made to all other local networks (Cell C, MTN, Telkom, etc), charged at R1.85 (incl. VAT) per minute.
NOTE: All other rates remain unchanged.

Maybe somebody ought to get Vodacom to explain:
  1. If the MORE MINUTES are used only after the anytime minutes have been used. If so, what a cr@p deal!
  2. Why off-peak calls to Vodacom subscribers increase by 57% from R0.95/min to R1.49/min
  3. Why calls to other networks now cost more than before the reduction in MTR

I have received this letter with my account on e-mail.

I still want to get hold of the person at vodacom who have worked out this brain teaser because for the LOVE OF MIKE, how must I know to which netowrk the number belong that I dial. With the porting of numbers, who can tell on which network they are.
I seriously start to question the level of education of this person or persons that have come up with this bright idea.
I just hope they do not get a BONUS the end of the year.

Well if you can find out for us if vodacom will supply us with telephone books, or some access on their site, so that we can type in the telephone number before we dial it, to find out to which network the number belong.
According to my package I will pay R1.49 for vodacom to vodacom and R1.85 to MTN Cell-C Telkom etc.
This does not make any sense to me and I do not have a KOEKEN CLUE to which network the number belong.
Eich Vodadom, come up with better ideas that does make sense.

When you call a number that is ported you will hear 3 beeps before the phone starts ringing.

Hi

You will first use your more minute bundle and then your subscribed bundle you get every month

Guys lets not forget that we are getting something for free here. However we will look into the (not knowing what number you calling) issue.

Can't Vodacom afford someone to compile a sensible letter? There is aboslutely ZILCH on the new (excuse for a ) website either - weird for a company so hooked on T&C's.

In addition, why on earth the 57% increase in off-peak call rates? Strange that it happens when the MTR comes down

Well I still want to know how a person that work for Vodacom can come up with such a brilliant idea of giving this to vodacom clients, but does not keep in mind that number porting make in impossible to know on which network the number is. This kind of developement let me think that vodacom does not care about their clients or give a damn about them. I also tried to get hold of Dee Nel, but these people hide behind the poor guys and girls that have to work with the public. If she has the guts to take a call from a client, then she will not send out such pathetic letters to their clients from the management. She was suppose to query this before sending out such a letter to clients.

Don't worry , i have spoken with the relevant people and they are looking into it. I will provide feedback as soon as i get it.

well this is the mail that I have received from vodacom on this matter.

Dear xxxxxxx

Kindly be advised that with Mobile Number Portability which allows you to keep your number and change your network provider, it is virtually impossible to know before hand whether the number belongs to Vodacom before initiating a call.

You may check your Itemised Billing after a call to confirm the number you called whether it was on the Vodacom network or another mobile network.

Itemised Billing may be accessed from www.vodacom4me.co.za if you subscribe to the service on the cellular number in question. You would need to register on the website, and a password is generated to your cellular number.

Regards
xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx

For me it seems that there is no way that this can be solved, so why don't vodacom just drop this whole idea of only vodacom to vodacom.
It has been seen so many times that vodacom come up with this ideas, but it does not work.
It will only work if they say it is on all network. They make enough money to at least give this to the customers and not spending a lot of money trying to solve their mistakes.

Hi

Lets wait for the feedback and see if there are any changes. Will keep you updated.

I just received my statement for my old Weekender contract I passed on to my folks. What I cannot figure out from the tariff adjustment letter is if the 120 free weekend minutes replaces the 120 everyday off peak minutes or if it's an extra?

ocleroux or VodacomData can either of you confirm?

Hi Morkhans. To my understanding it is a extra. For example, on the system on my Blackberry Talk 100, i now have the following service code active:

MORW VS More Minutes Weekend 2010-04-09 R 0.00

It is kind of like a bolt on VAS service that got activated, and not a full on tarrif redesign if I can put it that way. The idea of the package remains the same, in this case the 120 minutes off peak per month (after 20:00 - 07:00 next morning, weekends and public holidays), but now this has been added on as a kinda "better value add-on"

Just a note: I am not on the weekend package, and received a letter for the Blackberry Talk 100 package. The letters are different, so I might be wrong. Can someone post a letter for the weekend package here please so I can read it?

Here is the pertinent info (I don't have an electronic copy):

Your Weekend Everyday tariff package includes 120 FREE Weekend (Saturday 00h00 - Sunday 23h59) minutes per month. To check how many Weekend minutes you have available, simply SMS the keyword 'AM' to 30150 (FREE SMS).

It's confusing because normally I have 120 off-peak minutes so to me it almost looks like they converted that to weekend only (which would suck). So I'd like some clarity.

As per the vodacom.co.za website, it states that your bundled minutes count everyday off peak. :-)
