A friend of mine almost throttled a neighbour when they came around with a petition against a new cell tower.
"I want goddamn good reception you moron" was the exact quote I think.
Which nicely summarises the situation networks often find themselves in, half the people want coverage, half don't want a tower.
And you only need one guy to kick against the tower and you're looking at years before you *might* get coverage.
Speak to v3g and see what he saysWell is there any way to "invite" the network to come look at my yard for a possible site. I have ample space.
My suggestion... buy a 15 storey building in an area of low buildings and the cell companies will come knocking at your door with offers!
EDIT : ...and V3G, threads such as this, and your response give me even more ammo to use when negotiating rentals from them!![]()

who is|are the mysterious "them" in this context?
My understanding is that if you get municipal permission to rent out a portion of your own property to a cellular network without any objections from the surrounding community, and provided that your yard is close to sufficient power and backhaul and can offer some useful signal coverage [no topographical obstructions] etc, then the cellular network operators will be clambering to ring your doorbell. The cell phone companies...
I have still not recieved any information on how to "invite" any network to talk to me about putting a tower on my yard

Maybe the fact that you post in a public forum, as someone called "Ghost02" living in a place called "The Ghost town" might just have something to do with it.

PM your contact details and address and I will ask the planner for that area to make contact with you. I am not at work this week, so will probably only happen next week.

Do you have something to do with the whole tower placement thing? If you do which network? It doesn't matter which network because I'll be moving to it.
