Vodacom Vlive T.V

I mean, if each person gets a dedicated stream of say 200 kbps from the broadcasting centre in Johurg for example, and more and more people tune in to the same channel or any other channel on the same 3G tower, then how would that affect bandwidth for other applications on the same tower?

Even if one broadcasts, at some point it must become an individual data stream to the specific handset and thus use dedicated bandwidth.

The crux is the location of the 'tune-in' point. From that point onwards, it will have to be individual streams. Currently the 'tune-in' point will be the streaming server (in JHB), so Ajax's question is valid.

As always the answer is more capacity, but at least it's only local and not international.

Thanks for your infomation, please keep this thread up to date for us Voadcom3G and announce as soon as you hear anything... btw, at the time of writing, I want to watch Click Online, but the BBC link has been taken away, any reason?

Just checked and the link is nowhere to be found =/ Very weird... it is no longer on the main page, when that happened in the past it was under "Whats New", but now even the link is gone for that that

That new recored show for Vodacom Customers took its place =/

okay im a bit confused here.

first off living in dbn i actually had to take a drive to gateway to get 3g reception, but thats beside the point

me = prepaid samsung z500 (R2/mb - no bundle)

now, when i hit the vlive button on my cell it takes me to a site that resembles a za customized version of vodaphone (live.vodafone.com), so this seems okay, but then im getting charged for the browsing, which ive read somewhere here that it supposed to be free.

then where in the world do u find the bbc world link, cos i even typed out bbc in the search bar on the main page and nothing...

so why am i getting charged when ppl here say its free (just browsing vlive) and where in the world is the tv stream

You are quite right, Gladiator. I am using a 6680 on prepaid. And, yes, I can not find the BBC World link anymore. I used to find it under Audio and Video. What's going on here??? :(

I did not get charged for browsing though. Downloaded a movie trailer and watched the yebo millionaires show.

I thought I was going insane, as I couldn't find the link this morning (only set up VLive today on my normal 6680). Now I know noone can see it!:)

I still want a reply from Vodacom with regrads to the stream being missing, they did not give any warning :(

Vodacom, did you forget to pay your royalties to BCC?

BBC streaming was supposed to be free till Feb next year. There seem to be some issue with the stream at the moment and it looks like it's been removed till sorted. Will check on Monday and revert.

I agree it was without warning :(

That sucks, so my theory was correct, Vodacom forgot to pay royalties :(
oOo

Bump - Any news yet?

Any new channels... I must be careful what I ask for.. lol, I ask for more channels and then I get 1 taken away :)
