Hi,

I live in a rural area. Vodacom Voice quality deteriorated about a year ago. I have not been able to get anything done about it. Basically most the time I can not hold a conversation. Have to phone back using whatsapp or another sim.

My phone reports similar signal strength for both MTN (-81dBm) and Vodacom (-77dBm) but you can not hear what anyone says on Vodacom and have crystal clear coms on MTN... What gives?

I would like to upload a sample recording, but there does not seem to be a toolbar button to embed audio.

How do I get them to fix it? It used to work. With 12 months left of my contract, I am certainly going to ditch VC if its still not working when it comes to contract renewal time... By the way, changing from a Huawei P10 to a Xioami Redmi 4x did not improve things. But they are both chinese brands, only the Huawei was bought from Vodacom (on contract), so it should work on their network.

Regards,

Murray

The quality of MTN rural voice has been so good in the last 2 years. I migrated to MTN 2.5 years ago because of the patchy VC reception. I immediately noticed a huge difference. Not only reception but the clarity of voice. VC seems to be very muffled but MTN is crisp. My wife migrated about 8 months ago and also commented on the quality.
