So I've been with Vodacom for quite a couple of years now, have 6 odd contracts and spend atleast R4k a month with them.

I am however wanting to change as they have irritated me way too many times over the last couple of months, first they were wanting to charge me a huge amount on penalties for wanting to upgrade my contract one month early even though my avarage spend on that contract is R2k according to their system.

Then I cancelled 2 of my smaller contracts in March at a Vodashop which they are now still chraging me for every month, after phoning customer support on the weekend they said I have no leg to stand on for a credit as I was never given a succesfull transmission receipt by the Vodashop.

Their system also seems to always be down, going into a Voda store or phoning 111 you are almost garanteed to be greeted by a sorry we are currently offline.

I am now wanting to just cancel all my Vodacom contracts and move to another provider, MTN seems seriously expensive though and Virgin shouldn't really exist as an option.

So what do you guys think of Cell C as a service provider or am I just going to be more irritated by their service?

iv recently changed to Cell C- their call rates and deals are way better than vodacom and mtn- for example I have a contract where I am paying R100 a month, for that I get a nokia 5230, 100 any time minutes, and calls at R1.50 a minute to any network. the other providers were R2.80 to R3.00 per minute and the contracts gave you literally half that amount of free time.

That said, the cell c call centre is not the greatest- they didn't put through our debit order at the end of the month (who knows why) then cut me off for failure to pay.... it took about 15 minutes, but I managed to sort it out. Apart from that, I haven't had too many other complaints.. perhaps someone who has been with them for a longer time can comment.

cell c is worse, they do all of the above and worse

Assuming from the amount you spend on phone bills you seem like a very heavy user and probably heavily rely on your phone. In that case don't go to CellC, there are too many problems. Delayed SMS, no 3G (yet), bad reception....

I also get delayed SMS sometimes on Cell C. Why don't you take a bigger contract with Cell C and do your phoning with it and a small contract with another provider in case Cell C fails you sometime.

I've had delayed SMSs on Vodacom before, on one occasion my dad received an SMS from me two days after it was sent...

Change your store, not your provider.

Vodabomb is still the best, no matter what they say.

Yes I agree.
Vodacom does has problems but bearing in mind that they are a big company, there will always be problems.
Stay with Vodacom.

Do you have only one contract left?

I have been on all three networks and Cell c is the WORST!!!! Vodacom has issues but they are the best out of a bad lot!!

Don't Move!!
