I mean I understand slight price variations, but bugger me this is disgusting.

PS. I was looking for HTC TyTN pricing (which no-one has) so I decided to compare the closest thing they did have. Looks like I'll be porting over to MTN next month...

Mmm… and I thought I was the only one. I called Vodacom a month ago to ask for an upgrade to a K-Jam and JASJAR. I’m on a talk 240 for around R400 a month and been with Vodacom for over 10 years. They quoted me R2600 on the K and R6800 on the JAR. I called MTN to see what the difference would be. K for free and JAR for R2600. A substantial difference. I called Vodacom SP back and asked them if they could do better as I had been a customer for so long and after keeping me holding for 10 min told me they could not budge on the price as I did not spend enough with them. When I mentioned porting to the chap he just said I am sorry to hear that. So be it!!! As soon as the TyTN is available MTN, Cell C & Virgin sharpen your pencils.

If i am not Mistaken .. Vodacom offers a 2 year warrantee on their devices and MTN offers a 1 year warrantee on their devices ...
So it looks like the price difference covers the extended warrantee ..

Please correct me if i am wrong ...

I just called Vodacom and they say that they are now discontinuing the JAMIN? WTF?

Nope you are mistaken. My recent Nokia E70 on MTN got a 2 year warrantee....unless they do this selectively.

cant remember which store it was but anyways .. This dude told me that they only provide a one year warrantee ...
mmmmm ... makes me wonder if that dude was blowing smoke up my A$$ ... He needed devices repaired and I told him I will only do out of warrantee devices ..

Vodacom are discontinuing i-Mate phones. They are, however, getting the HTC ones in. It's the same thing, just a different name.

I got my JAMin yesterday and I'm completely infatuated with them! I ordered it on Tuesday and I got it yesterday - delivered to my door! Well done Vodacom! You guys got yourself some brownie points there!

Now, if only I can figure out how to set up my GPRS O.o

It's all the 'Mo the Meerkat' ads that's costing Vodacom so much.

MTN not worth it

Seriously guys, this might sound like a good deal but its not worth the frustration. I went with the Procall 220 package on MTN with a "free" I-mate Jamin. I ordered the phone on the 20th of November of last year. I STILL don't have it. They keep giving excuses about containers and warehouses etc.

It is really the most shocking service that I have ever received in my entire life. I asked for number porting (from a mtn number at autopage to mtnSP). After waiting for a month for the Sim card to be activated I told them to forget the number porting and just get me a number that works. This time it only took them a week and a half to get the sim working.

Meanwhile I'm still waiting for my I-mate, which will probably be outdated IF I get it one day. The service guys at MTNsp have nothing but apathy. Stay away, its just not worth the trouble.
