I phoned the number but they could not find anything under my ID. The account is paid via debit order. What gives?

Yeah thought so to but I googled the number first and found comments on Hello peter, so it seems legit...

Did you check if your account number matches the one in the SMS? If so, how did they even know your account number?

It sounds like a 3rd party selling Vodacom contracts under their own name. They bill you and you get your airtime every month? If so, you pay them, and not Vodacom.

Better sort it out quick b4 you get yourself blacklisted. Going to Vodacom directly should be your first step....Good luck.
