Fair enough. While I've got you here v3g, is Vodacom doing anything about the fact that I was on hold for 40 minutes (after which I gave up) last Friday. It's been fine in the past, so I'm hoping it was just a once off thing?

Cheers, Nick

The call centers are under huge load and more, bigger call centers are being built at the moment.

Long wait times are not uncommon, so it need to be addressed.

We're also building an on-line knowledge base for on-line self help.

Would you use something like this? (Probably a no-brainer to answer....)

ic, could you possibly do a poll, maybe something along the lines:

What support structure do you prefer, on-line self-help, e-mail, call, etc.

Nickste, how difficult would it be just to ensure that you make a call on VC every 90 days? Prepaid cards are about R3 at the moment. You can buy airtime for R12.

The OBF policy is something you signed for and atleast an option you can use, especially if you upgrade to a S60 mobile, they always give you **** and 1 in 3 are faulty, If its a faulty phone which is not a surprise if you use nokia, at least you can change it for a new one, even if your phone software starts acting up after 6months, if vodacare sees it to be faulty they give you a brand new phone!!
But back to the mtn sim card issue, its fair I think that you should have your voda sim in the phone to claim from vodacom, it makes sense doesnt it?

Besides the insurance use the same policy, if your master line is insured to your N8800 and you start using an Mtn sim in the 8800 and your master voda sim in a K750 and 6 months should your 8800 get stolen you cant claim for the 8800!!!!

Yeah, it isn't that hard, but I just don't think the policy is a fair one and that's why I have a problem . It is anti-competitive.
Thanks for the update v3g, i'm glad to know vodacom is working on it. I think a GOOD, comprehensive knowledge base would be very useful.

To avoid the queue time with the call centre, I prefer using the query form on Vodacom4me.

A decent online knowledge base might help.

But if it is of the quality the operators use to assist with queries made from the web on difficult technical issues, it will be of limited value. Sometimes there is a decent answer, often it can be ignored. Also, the response time (1 day) is far to long. If one has a problem, one requires an answer NOW!

Maybe the operators handling the query forms should be encouraged to call users to find out exactly what the problem is.

JK8: I'm not sure if you've followed the whole thread. My problem with the OBF is that i don't want it, i'd rather rely on my common law right to return a faulty product.

The warranty and insurance are a different thing. I can understand the sim needing to be in the phone for insurance purposes, but there is absolutely no reason for it to have to be in there for the warranty.

Thats a fair statement, but voda gets more than enough OBF returns and to cope with any faulty phone returns will just be a burden on their part!!

They also just suppliers of handsets, so your common law right would be to return it to Nokia/manufacturer rather than your relevant SP!

I know the SPs get hammered with irrate customers that cant understand the difference between a SP and a manufacturer, and thats just not fair on the SPs part, they have a few policies in place thats about all they can do on their part...

Ive always said that the SPs should sell Nokias with a "Buy at own risk" sticker! :p

Yep, but as vodacom are selling the phone to us, it should be their task to sort it out with the manufacturer.

The phones come with a one year warranty and voda gives you an extra year so i suppose they could shorten it to a year if you not using it on the Voda network, same as your car has a one year warrenty and the dealership adds 2 years but only if you service it at the dealership.

Make sense ?

I purchased a Samsung pocket neo on the 11 October 2014 from CNA in canal walk . Not on a contract . On the 9 of December I was using it and noticed that I wasn't registered on any network . assuming the network was down, left it alone . After several hour's and rebooting my phone, still had no luck . I then phoned Vodacom and was told that there could be a problem with my (new ) sim.
The following morning went to Vodacom and was told that the device was faulty . I contacted can,who said that the device should be sent to a repair centre . knowing how long this could take, decided to take it to the Samsung repair centre myself . The device was left there,it was going to take the afternoon . The manager kindly offered to wait until I got there as the centre closed &I finished at 6pm . Anyway the next morning the same thing happened again . Sorry my phone has gone back to the centre . I felt I should have been given a new device,as I have only had the device for months.
