Hi Guys,

i need some advise here

i've been living at my current address for about 4 years now, and around sep 2011 we started having signal issues,

vodacom came out, installed a celfi thinnggy , and presto, problem solved. Then around march this year, the issues were back, but worse, so i logged it with vodacom, and nothing, nadda , happened, so in july i logged it with icasa,
and now they suddenly interested,

now vodacom wants to mount all sort of equipment on my place...

my issues now are

1> i dont own the place, im renting, and the owner of the place isnt keen on the idea
2> they can only come in office hours, now as most south africans , i work for a living, i used a number of my leave days already for their signal guys to come and test the signal at our place, and i dont have any more leave days, and as a consultant, if im not out seeing clients, im not making money.

any idea what other options i have here? if i have to use a diffrent provider for my data needs at home, i could just as well move everything across, my issue is i have 5 contracts with vc, all of which were taken before march when all this crap started,

do i just bend over and get it from them, or is there some sort of recourse?

In terms of cancelling existing contracts, if it comes down to that, I had a similar experience with MTN (through MWEB as the reseller). My local tower which had provided a good MTN signal, went down and two months on, had still not been fixed. I ultimately threatened legal action because they were no longer providing the service which had motivated me to take out the contract in the first place. Eventually they agreed to annul the contract with no penalties.

Your Vodacom problem may not be (solely) an issue with your local signal. Living out in a rural area, I too have one of VC's Cellvine repeaters, and even with it, the service has deteriorated terribly in recent months, fluctuating between its previous acceptable speed and levels, to being entirely unusable for parts of the day. I've been unable to establish whether this is a local problem, or related to their wider service; there are certainly plenty of Vodacom complaints on this forum!

With way I've had enough, not need my place looking like the inside of a cell tower, adding who knows what to my electricity bill, not to mention the interference on radios , baby monitor, etc
