Vodacom workers to strike

The wording almost sounds like it's CWU that's imposing the disciplinary hearings, but I have to ask - how would Vodacom be able to cancel a CWU member's CWU membership? - surely that's just an illogical nonsense allegation from CWU? and what exactly is a dual deduction...?
Methinks here be the real reason for the malcontentedness of the CWU...

In terms of the coverage of the dispute, I am taking everything the South African press says with a grain of salt. The Vodacom journalism awards are around 100 000.

I believe, based on what I know, that the company simply refuses to recognise people who join the union or simply stops considering them as such unilaterally. That way, even I could maintain union membership at my company at 10% (or whatever I wanted, for that matter) :D

It's interesting to me that in this whole coverage we hear from Vodacom and from the CWU's officials, but what are the workers saying? (For example, the guy who has been receiving threats).

I know a few people who work in call centres - your bosses makes bad decisions and at the end of the day it is you that the customers yell at. I don't envy those guys. Imagine being in a position where your job is to justify the stupidity of some of these companies.
