Vodacom's coverage battle

Is there anything being done about Stellenbosch? There has been a constant decline in network quality since July last year.

I get frequent dropped calls and most of the time data just times out on BIS. My Blackberry also loves switching from 3G to EDGE constantly.

This is problem is not limited to Vodacom.

Question to VC.... why are you so reluctant to allow 8ta to co-locate?

All operators co-locate, have been for years. Sometimes there are issues with thing like wind-loading, etc. Which probably is quite relevant in your neck of the woods. ;)

Mail me details of any specific tower and I can try and get more info.

Why is Telkom vehemently against allowing competitors access to exchange buildings as well as Local Loop Unbundling?

Surely there are many exchange buildings that would serve as excellent cellular tower sites for all four cellular networks, and considering the looming multi billion Rand fine that Telkom faces, Telkom could do with a bit of rental fees for that tower space and infrastructure access?

All licensed operators have access to space in Telkom buildings - been like that for quite a few years already.

At a price, of course.

And yet Vodacom performed better a year ago where i could catch 3g all the time but now only edge.

Im jumping on the MTN boat and see if its any better , if so bye bye Vodadom.

I am on MTN with my iPhone and on Vodacom with my iPad 3g. I find the Vodacom network superior in all respects. I am jumping ship to Vodacom at the end of the year.

The Vodacom network is undoubtedly better than anyone else, and I recently bought three 2GB Top Up contracts (thanks for listening, Jannie).

But for volume data I am still using Cell C, Vodacom is too expensive.

Would love a 60+60 deal like 8ta's from Vodacom :D

bwhahahahaha. Urg.....and then people wonder why I am so anti social and self absorbed!!! Cause of people like that!!!!

PS: Springbok is not Western Cape...but Northern Cape :-)

And I thought George was in the Western Cape

He was last week but I heard he moved to Carletonville in the Free State

Vodacom is fast when it works,my buddy was getting 5mps + a few months ago but then all of a sudden it dropped to as low as 0.5mbps for the past month.

With MTN you'll only average 1,7mbps in my area but its constant and reliable.I use this for my smart phone.

The biggest problem with both of them is still price though...so i threw my money at 8ta(cell c has no 3g yet in my area) and I', thoroughly enjoying my go big 10gig for R199.I hit peaks speeds of 6.3mbps on my 7.2mbps modem and slowest Ive goten so far was just under 5mbps.So its proving to be a fantastic deal so far for me!

Canceled my adsl line and using this as my laptop connection.

Is there another place to see the planned towers, other than on Spaceface? I'm not social.

This I did not know, is it legislated or just a Telkom policy, and if the latter, could it be that the price Telkom is asking is too high (usually the case where Telkom is concerned)?
