Feedback from Vodacom about their Internet Starter Pack's availability:

"Although participating Vodacom outlets, e.g. Edgars, Incredible Connection and some Vodashops do have stock, some outlets do not have stock because it’s still being rolled out."

and

"In your inquiry you attached a thread that had people enquiring about stores in the Pretoria area. Please see below a list of some of the stores that have stock:

- John Craig – Pretoria Church Street
- PepCell Menlyn Pretoria
- Incredible Connection – Menlyn
- Vodashop Centurion Lake
- Vodashop Wonderpark
- Vodacom4U Vodaworld
- Vodashop Kolonade (V Cell)
- Metro Home Centre City
- PepCell Wonderpark
- Incredible Connection Woodmead"

Quick google search revealed: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...rter-Pack-Modem-data-for-12-months-under-R400
= Vodacom is set to launch its ‘Internet Starter Pack,’ offering a free modem and data for 12 months for under R400 once off
More: 100 MB of data per month for 12 months

But I cannot find vodacom's actual explanation of the product.

Only people who don't read and haven't heard of other networks will think this is a real good deal.... lol
C'mon VC stop ripping the innocent of their hard earned cash.

Isn't it R399 once off instead of R4800? If that's the case its an attractive entry-level package considering a 3G modem costs around that much on its own without the bundled data

There are a number of ways to look at this, and yes, I too believe it is a worse rip-off than circumcision, but the "principle of "Buyer beware" will never disappear. I know there are many moves to protect the stupid and the uninformed against themselves, but they must fend for themselves too...

No you will be paying R399 for a modem + 1.2GB of data spread over 12 months (i.e. 100Mb data each month).

Yes, this is definitely WAAAAAAY too little data for your average user but it seems aimed at really really entry level users.

This is ideal for someone like my gran - she ONLY checks e-mail and thus maybe uses between 20 and 50mb a month. This is PERFECT for her!!!! For R400 (once off) she gets a modem and internet for the whole year!!!! That's like R33 a month...
