Ok, so I've been comparing and such, and for R399 it seems it's the best deal to go for.

It's basically for my laptop, I am a ADSL user, so I don't really need massive data on it, just for whenever I'm anywhere and I need access - 100MB is probably too little but it should do.

Before I go and 'do this' (get it) are there any last words of warning or bits of advice?
Any deals almost the same, that I should know about?!?

Speak now kids!

I don't think the deal is bad, as long as your expectations aren't too high. 100meg will be used up very quickly.
As stated by ocleroux, you're buying the modem dirt cheap and getting the data for free.

All I can say is that you are basically getting the modem at cost and the data for 0. :-)

Thanks boet!

Yeah, I just wanted to know what others throught, but the time it took for someone to post generally means there is no real bad comments.

Perfect for gran for emails or as a fixed line backup, just so that you can still do essential stuff.

I'm trying to find the costs on 'topping up' the 100MB, in say 1GB or 2GB amounts, gosh, sometimes I could smack Vodacom's web site.

You would buy normal prepaid bundles valid up to the end of the following month after purchase.

Well, I got it.

Went to Somerset Mall and went into 1 of the Vodacom shops and the guy gave me the 'last' "Internet Starter Pack" that they had in stock, he RICA'd me using my "utility bill" and "ID" and then activated it for me.
He offered to set it up on my laptop but I refused since I'm not a complete idiot and wanted to leave something to do myself.

Been playing with it; random tests;

To RDC to my home PC (ADSL) used up 500KB of traffic
To open Gmail on the laptop and browse all options on Gmail (fully loaded) used 1MB
To open Facebook and goto my GF's profile and let it fully load (not scrolling down) used up 1MB as well.

Killing the 100MB won't be too hard (if I try)

:)

If you use Opera Browser with the Turbo funtion enabled you should be able to squeeze more browsing out of your 100meg. Note though that the picture quality in your webpages might be degraded (due to compression) and web pages might actually take a tad bit longer to load.

Thanks for the tip!

Hopefully 100MB should be enough for now.
I checked at DATA BUNDLES via FNB last night and I was like... WHAT?!!?!? 10MB for R9! eish!

Question;

If I purchase a 500MB data bundle - does that bundle carry over?

So, if this month I only use 50MB, but I purchase the 500MB data bundle, will my next month's value be 600MB? (the new months 100MB and my unused 500MB)
I don't expect the initial 100MB (or whats left over) to carry over, but if I spend a truck load getting 500MB, I hope it doesn't 'expire'

Can someone confirm?

Up to 60 days. You get 60 days if bought on the first of the month.

60 days is better, but I still think it should carry on over as long as it takes you to use it.

Obviously, I'm sure this is a thing that people have moan about many times... I'm only moaning now since I have come to the party (getting my own 3G device) now.
So I guess it's only viable to purchase in X amounts (depending on how you use it)

Since I only plan to use the 3G device minimally, I should probably only purchase in "100's" of MB's instead of once off 1GB or whatever, because if my 1GB expired after X amount of days, I'd be lekker the moer in!
