Vodafone 3g stick/modem setup minor problems

Can anyone help with 3g modem it states 'insert sim' though the usb memmory card storage works what im i doing wrong,and ive checked both ports.

Make sure that the sim is inserted correctly , there is a diagram on the sim tray.

What modem and what SIM?

Vodafone software doesn't seem to like non-Vodacom SIM's!

The E220 also suffers from loose SIM contacts...

I've got a signal it recognize my sim now,but when i try to connect i get error code 651 or 678,797,692 how do i solve this issue?
