Vodafone e-mail drive

Looked at it in detail. Extremely costly....and you're still responsible for all operational parameters . Made absolutely no sense at all.
So basically Vodacom would become responsible for the local hosting and would still need to provide a high speed international link to GMail, or am I missing the mark?

Would still be responsible for services like spam, virus control and other management functions.
Ok, even that is a bit strange since those are the best builtin features of GMail that should not need to be rebranded.

I have to wonder if Google SA is just waiting for SEACOM & EASSy before it gets its act together and delivers on a bunch of 2007 promises, or if we should all just forget about Google SA completely and move on.

True. It gives you everything you need and more. Even downloading via Thunderbird/similar or auto non-gmail forwarding is possible. I have a hotmail account from back then and you need to pay to auto forward to non-msn emails or to download via pop3. Yahoo is a bitch to access each time (my gmail loads in a matter of seconds and on my pc I never have to log into the account) and the autologin expires after 2 weeks. The local emails are tightly limited wrt space and is simply (in most cases) a webmail/horde database.
Except it isnt locally hosted.

I was looking at my dads ISP's webmail which was rebranded gmail and it had the same functionality that my bog-standard gmail did.
