So quick story. Went to 8ta, asked for 3GB special, they almost refused to sell to me because their system said I had no signal (i took a chance hoping for coverage).

Anyhow stuck the simcard in my E220 and it would not pick it up. All other sim (Voda, MTN, Cell C) even 64K sim cards worked, but 8ta would not.

My last resort was to upgrade the firmware and it worked! Connected first time with MDMA or 8ta Connect software!

So if you have been struggling for hours with drivers and ****, first upgrade your E220's firmware to the latest and then try! Not sure what's different about 8ta sim cards but there is definitely something stopping them from working on the older firmwares that worked fine for every other carrier for the last 5 years.

Here is the download link. Just run the firmware one, ignore the dashboard installer.

I recommend the using MDMA too, http://www.nerve.org.za/mdma/ but you need the 8ta connect software to view your remaining balance since it comes in the form of an SMS after sending the USSD command *188#.

Cheers

I just used that USSD command in MDMA and it works.

Signal is far better than Voda and CEll C too.
