Hi,

I have been accross Google and could not find one decent firmware download for the Vodafone K4605 / Huawei E372. Any chance one of you guys has a link?

Thanks!

There is no new firmware for the K4605, Vodafone is always slack about things like this.

You can flash it to an E372 using this : http://www.mtn.co.za/SUPPORT/DEVICEDOWNLOADS/Pages/default.aspx

Note that you do need a flash code.

Another one is : http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/t-mobile/e372update_11.203.03.10.55.b726.exe

I found that I first had to use the first firmware, and then the one above.

You can also find new Huawei Mobile Partner Dashboards on the web.

Edit : As always, note that you do this at your own risk.

I tried the MTN version, but I get an Error Code 10 before the flashing begins. Any ideas?

You need the firmware flash code to change the firmware - another member helped to calculate the code for my K4605.

There are also some websites that you can use to calculate this.

I always, with whichever firmware I used, got a request for a firmware code, and an entry box.

The K4605 drivers need to be properly loaded, otherwise the firmware update application does not see the modem.

Downloaded the drivers from www.dc-files.com and installed, but still getting the same error... I'll just scratch around a bit. I'm sure I'll figure it out ;)

Is the modem device appearing in your device manager, or only the virtual CD-ROM? The device needs to be 'modeswitch'-ed in order for the modem device and COM ports to appear. Try running VMB first to kick it into the correct mode, and then make sure VMB is properly closed and no other dashboards are running before you try the firmware upgrade.

Ah, thank you sir! You are a mentor, and a visionary! Now for the password... How do I get that?

The K4605 is not connecting at this point. I'm hoping that once the firmware has been upgraded, it will be fine.

When I plug it in it detects and installs VMB as it is supposed to, however when I click CONNECT, it hangs about for a few seconds and then gives a long error message. My K4505-Z did this as well and the problem was solved by flashing it, so I'm hoping that the K4605 will do the same...
