Anyone had trouble setting up an email alias with Vodamail?

I tried setting up yesterday and by default, the mail account is [email protected]. This account does work perfectly, but I don't want to send my number out - so I setup an alias at www.vodacom4me.co.za which was [email protected] and set it to default. Vodacom call centre confirmed my alias on their server as well as all my settings correct. They've opened a case as they're not 100% of the issue and say it may be on their side.

I sent an email to the Vodacom call centre agent from my alias ([email protected]) which he received perfectly. However, when he replied I received nothing. Also, when I sent from my Mweb account I got the error (Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table)

What could the issue be?

Seems it was resolved recently. When I posted this morning I was still having the same issues as last night ... now it's all good. Thanks!

Is Vodamail unreliable - or was I simply unlucky? The call centre mentioned there were issues last night.

Probably find it took a while for the alias to replicate through the system. They normally say 24 hours for a change to come into effect.

Must say i have been using it since it was "invented" hasn't been any more unreliable than any other isp email address i have had in the past couple of years.

Erm - right ... how do I prevent people like internaut getting my stuff?

But when you select the alias, it comes back to say unavailable or not?

Irrespective of using an alias,do any of you have your mails returned as spam?
I find that the alias is purely eye candy..the actual mail addr.is still [email protected].
A lot of ISP abroad block this as spam because of the phone number preceding the vodamail
Ive reported this a few times to VC ..They in turn then ask for the provider details and then notify them that they now messing with the big guns now..After that no probs for a while..I found Otenet in Greece kills me sometimes..

I found that choosing a name and the doing it backwards works eg skoob = books or name =eman. I really battle with nic's and 'address and stuff (make sure it is something you can pronounce)

Setting up email boxes with Telkom is a shelp. They do it over the phone there is no way to do it over web except for aliases, but not a proper email address complete with private password.
