Hi All

Just need some guideline to the costs of a Vodaphone E272 modem and +/- 12 months in use.

Thanking You.

I understand the E272 is available again. Great modem, if you don't try to use it on VC in Nelspruit

Confirmed. The E272 is available via Vodacom again. Not sure about the current stock levels though. They do not seem to move really. We are mostly ordering the K3565 and the new K3765 modems now. 3.6 and 7.2 enabled respectively.

I am still using my trusty E220 though :D

I would much rather have a E272 over any of those stick type modems. Much better IMO.

I have not used any of those to be honest. I know that my E220 works like a bomb with my Ubuntu and there is nothing wrong with my little E220 yet...so no need to get a new stick. Lots of people raving about the E272 though.

As I understand it the E272 has an external antenna connection, so would perform much better than the others with a little antenna.

I have ordered one off eBay and am waiting for it so that I can start playing with it.

Also ordered a 9dB antenna.

It does. You get a special cradle for it that turns it into a SMA connection. Hope you made sure the modem you ordered is not network locked.

The one that I ordered was specifically stated to be unlocked -let's see what the status is when I get it !

If it turns out to be locked, come back and ask on the forum.

I bought my E272 on eBay. The connector for the cradle wasn't visible. That is simple to find, pull of the sticker! It also didn't have the two little indentations where the cradle's pins fit in, so I just snapped the pins off and voila! It works like a charm!
