Good day,
You must remember by law we are obliged to charge Voice as Voice weather it be over an internet protocol or not at the moment users are able to use SKYPE (VOIP) at no extra charge, so we don't have a choice in the matter ICASA classes Voice as voice

Ooops
Sorry

Thats all fair i guess, but in the end, VOICE is also data. Music counts as data, so why doesnt voice count as data?
Guys let's just see what happens
When I speak to people around VOIP the one comment was if it's voice then it will be charged like Voice
Marketing are working on a VOIP product at the moment. Currently MTN do not charge for VOIP in terms of the whole R25 per meg so let's see what happens more than this I can't tell you because I don't know, but will keep you guys posted on any developments

There are probably people who would love to get her over a barrel with the press present.Would love to get the Marketing director over a beer with the press present.
Well I think Vodacom are in the same place as us at the moment whereby they not charging any different for VOIP but I'm sure they must be working on something![]()

In the end the fact that the consumer will get screwed over will once again boil down to in ineffective regulater and badly written legislation / regulations.
Voice is no longer just voice. Voice is now data and vice versa. Every technological advance that might improve the plight of the consumer will be stifled in the interest of companies that are unable to addapt to the environment they operate in.
Suddenly all the Cell operators want to be ISP's and the will gladly provide you with data services as long as it does not cut into their Voice "Golden Goose".
Let it go ............. voice is dead (or within this decade). Decide to become a data carrier or die as a voice carrier.
